Hmm, I think passive is not as good in 0.3.2.
Mainly because there is less reward for flanking (since high back armor values right now makes it useless to go for back armor alphastrikes).

For me:
I mainly stay in passive without ECM and ping once in a while.
If I have ECM, I'll scout for my passive teammates and call out positions.
I like being passive as missiles can't lock onto me as easily, mainly.  And of course, if there are Longtoms, I'll keep my radar passive.

I think you need more poll options ;p

I'm normally in Active unless the opposition is really LRM heavy/sticking together in a big group that can't be taken down easily. Then I go Passive and try and flank.

Active as much as I can get away with. I'll take situational awareness thanks to the radar coverage any day. Especially because there are so many C3 mechs out there.

However, If Im going to be standing still for any reason, I go passive. Standing still and being active is just an invitation to trouble.

Active.  I mostly prefer ECM 'mechs and running active, or something fast without ECM to attract attention for an ambush.

But I'm used to being passive as part of a Lance (only the Lance Leader needs ECM and active for the c3 feed), but I don't enjoy the reduced SA.

I think the paranoia of passive is almost as bad as the false security of active.

Passive unless I'm in the middle of it then active so i can see what's hitting me. plus it help when i go in with 4 friendly mechs only to find they turned around while i engaged and have to fight my way back to them so i don't get slaughtered... which useally happens first, but sometimes i catch it before hand.

Depends. For the RAC5 VTOL, tanks, and small ECM equipped mechs I usually run passive. Otherwise, no.
