No love for Inferno? It's my second favorite one :<

I seriously dread Inferno. It's the only map I really think needs some serious reworking. It's just too damn big for a team deathmatch and there are always terrible bottlenecks next to the bases despite how big the map is.  I would also say Thunder Rift needs work just because it also doesn't work well for team deathmatch -- bottlenecks just aren't fun without a control point to be fighting for and the water is just irritating due to the darkness.

I'd say my favorite map overall is Sandblasted just because it has always had the least issues of any map at least imo.  It's open yet there is still plenty of cover to be had and I like that.  I will agree Mirage is a fine map that normally keeps the battle around the center which is a good thing, and it might be good for a king of the hill mode.

There's something to love about every map. Inferno has pretty great brawling, though only on one of two hills and it feels a bit too big and riddled with obstacles. Extremity has unique BA action, though I've only played on it twice since 0.3.X came out. I haven't played Clearcut or Frostbite enough to comment. Mirage is all-around pretty great; I particularly love how Aero-friendly it is, as the hills on either side of the main canyon area are perfect for hit-and-run, and the side passages make for intense maneuvering in close-range combat. I also love the little factory areas - perfect for ambushes! ;)

My favorite by far though is Sandblasted. It's perfect for just about everything. Big enough to have awesome large-scale fights and to make ASF both rewarding to play and easy to take down. Plenty of good places to hide as BA in the middle to dish out some serious damage while staying behind cover. The Pyramids make for great cover as ASF, and can protect your team from enemy LT fire. The sand dunes on the outer edges of the map tend to create pockets of intense brawling and keep missileboating and sniping to a minimum most of the time, and if there's any combat in the middle of the map that playstyle can still be viable. It caters to every asset all at once somehow, miraculously.

I'd have to say I've taken a liking to Mirage too. It's a great little map, with some nice flanking routes, and a good slugfest area in the centre. Terrain is uncomplicated and easy to navigate with plenty of visual landmarks. Excellent FPS to boot, and all assets are included (I like facing a variety of threats).

Marshes and Sandblasted are old favourites too, uncomplicated, easy to navigate, good fps and good cover accomodates a variety of tactics. Though marshes at night is very difficult to play on due to the unfortunate combo of the new night vision shader and colour palette.

Extremity is good change of pace, with interesting gameplay mechanics. I'm not an huge fan of the extra building clutter though, but it does provide some nice cover and opens up some interesting ambush posibilities. Bloom and heat haze during the day is a bit overdone though.

Frostbite is a nice map (when it's not blowing a blizzard), nice rolling hills, plenty of cover and open space to have awesome long range fights and intense brawls.

I'm starting to loathe clearcut due to it's heavy system requirements. One of the nicest looking maps mind... Also don't like how the action inevitably becomes a base camp fest either.

Worst maps by far in my opinion are thunder rift and inferno. Both are horribly constricted, narrow chokepoint oriented maps. Navigation on inferno is a right pain, due to all the impassable terrain and lack of easily distinguishable land marks. The huge size doesn't help either. Getting stuck on the jaggedy terrain on or falling off the bridges into the soul consumingly dark water / lava really bites and is quite easy to do in any sort of brawling situation. Both maps also bomb out fps wise.

I like the forced-in-close nature of inferno and the difficult conditions too. But it's so anti-navigable it just turns too many away. I still get completely, frustratingly lost all the time on that map, and im one of the few that sticks around and plays it.

If it had a revamp navigation-wise similar to how extremity changed in that respect, and somehow changed the flow to less often end up in 'wait right outside the enemy base', it could easily make it into a tier 1 map in my eyes.

Good maps are those that have areas in the middle not directly visible from the bases. Clearcut is an example of wrong layout, there is no "neutral" ground there, sandblasted is nearly perfect.
I like thunder rift too, an unusual environment makes the game richer.

thunder rift MIGHT be really good in league play, i dont know, but with out coordinated effort that map blows.. Its beautiful but its like trench warfare. If  you try n advance you get hosed. If you go BA .. even a swarm of em, you get hosed by some good player hangin in a nova . I hope the devs look at this poll and determine what works and why.. Or why marshes is not so good now.

Sandblasted is my favourite. Small, simple, fun, and easy on your computer. Mirage comes in at a close second, followed by: Clear-cut, Thunder Rift, and Marshes and Inferno dead last. I allows get stuck in the damn trees with my Harasser on Marshes.

I have played Extremity for a total of 5 minutes.
