Oooooooo.....kkkkkkk.... then

Please disregard what Jason has said... In case you haven't noticed a pc case has many holes in it... just pouring liquid nitrogen in it woud NOT go well... Unless of course what your really trying to accomplish is burning your hands and/or feet off...

Please do explain to me Jason... Do you have a special teaspoon for removing the -56 degree solid from its specially designed container or maybe you keep a hazmat suit in you computer room just in case your pc goes above  60...

Also I'm actuall really interested in how you obain dry ice.  I suppose you could take regular ice and blow on it with a hairdrier... Well actually that would be dry but not really ice anymore...more like steam.
idea 2... start with something dry... say a martini? Then we freeze it... Hmm suppose that won't really work either...

If you actually do get somereal dry ice, you might want to invest n an actual heatsink designed for the job. Oh.... and some gloves

Jason's idea is fine, putting dry ice in the bottom of the case does not require a special heat sink. It is just cooling the air inside the case and releasing cold CO2. Granted over time this would probably be more costly than a liquid cooling system, but it should be fine if you want to see if the instabilities are caused by high temperatures. Pouring liquid nitrogen on the other hand is probably a bad idea unless you put it in a ceramic bowl at the bottom of the case.

No, that idea is complete bs.

Even if you have a fricking supply of Dry Ice to put into your case in regular intervals. Cause you're too cheap to have proper airflow and coolers on your hardware. A great way to work around the problem instead of fixing it.
That is until condensation water starts building up on your hardware and causes all kinds of funny shorts. Not to mention the immense efficiency of cooling the bottom of a steel case praying that some cold air gets to the components before being sucked out by case fans.

Only people who live in a dream world do this. Unless you seriously know what you are doing. And just REALLY?? Seriously?!?! Your actually defending people, that instead of buying proper cooling and fans, go out and buy dry ice every week, and dump it in their case to ineffectivly lower their case temps.... So many things are wrong here it's untrue. And if you was to use Nitro, I would almost pay to watch the you do it....I really would....I've seen people do it on you tube, they aren't people who are clueless and just buy some and dump it in their home PC....

Sorry, I should have said "My" CTDs fixed...I got a bit excited I finally fixed it.

Idle temps of 60C and are not that off, and running temps in the low 80s its also not at all absurd, the cards have reported to downclock at 115-130C, not that I would ever suggest even letting things gets that bad.

In fact the same card runs other games at the same temp with lower framerates. This leads me to believe the video card has in fact been pushed harder and never resulted in CDTs with other games.

Ultimately its a hardware issue being triggered by some unforseen demand on the GPU, this I understand.

I also understand there are several possible causes leading up to CTDs, this was just an easy suggestion for those who haven't tried.

And thanks Rally, much appreciated!

Well I had a long post describing the fact that using dry ice would help lower gpu temps with minimal risk to the system for diagnostic purposes. Then I realized that I had heard the name Jason before and after some searching I have come to the awful realization that I am defending an idea from the annoying kid who hasn't even installed the game yet. In light of this fact I officially admit defeat and rescind any part of my post that attempt to validate anything that he has said.

If it was someone who it at uni, and doing things like this at uni, or because of uni, it's maybe belivable :P

I'm not saying dry ice wouldn't work, I'm saying to tell people to do it is retarded..In fact doing it unless you are trying to do mega OC (like 5ghz) it is just stupid XD

Anyway I'm leaving this argument to die like yourself.

Let's move the PC onto the north pole, than find a long wires to connect the screen, mouse, keyboard, and power. And a lot of amplifiers... several hundreds of thousands of these.
But the result will be amazing: -40°C while IDLE, +2°C in MWLL.

Get lots of batteries, or just get a portable engine with LOTS of fuel tanks :D Far easier, if not more cost effective than hundreds of miles of cables :D
