Yup, you know one way to make an air superiority fighter would be to make weapons specifically for ASF's versus ASF's.

Something like weapons that can track for close dogfighting, just a thought. Just trying to think of some way an ASF could beat another ASF quicker.

You mean like "Sidewinders" nowadays?
-> Air-to-Air missiles...

The thing about AA units is that they're a hyper-specialized subset of vehicles and air units. They are exclusively built for defensive measures against air units.

The only time AA units should be considered is when there is an air threat. All of this "the AA game is boring" talk stems from one of two things. Either you're AA when you shouldn't be, or your aim needs improvement.

The exception to that statement lies in the netcode, which can result in aerospace units teleporting around due to packet loss or slow packet movement. This really only affects ground AA units, since air AA units are equally hard to hit for the offending pilot. All I can say for ground AA units is that there will hopefully be a patch or change to resolve the issue so that high-latency aero pilots can actually be hit. There has been some progress to remedy this, but it partly comes down to the netcode inherent in crysis itself... as far as I know.

When both the aero and AA are low-latency players, I've found AA to function exactly as it should. That is to say, the aero ends up dead. Fast. The great thing about hyper-specialized units is that when they work, they work GREAT. If there was any change I might suggest, it would be a sweeping change to the Active Probe systems to increase the detection range for passive units. A brief bit of looking around shows that the primary function of active probes is the detection of camouflaged and shut down mechs. I would think that mechs that have gone passive would also fall into that category. Mechs running passive currently only show up on radar at... 250 meters I think?

Some food for thought, I like that the community here can discuss the state of the game without resulting to "STFU NOOB" type comments.

You know now that I think about it, I would really like to see some Partisan designs based around ground combat, IS needs a cheap battletank. Of course another asset would be nice but along with that or instead of I wouldn't mind it if the devs included a few more variants like they did with the harasser.

Give it a pair of AC/10 and a pair of SRM-6 and sign me up.

Yep, it would be a nice config to pilot. A small warhammer B. :)

With the unfortunate way that tanks are currently priced it would probably cost double that of the Cheaphammer.  :-\

I've been playing since 0.3 and the few times that I tried to fly a plane, I flipped it, crashed or was shot down so I'm not going to recommend sweeping changes.

I'm ambivalent about playing an AA role, I just see it as a role that needs to be fulfilled, like using an Arrow Mech on the battlefield. I'd usually rather be in a mech but most of the time I end up having fun, sometimes it is a chore.

I've used all of the Partisans ( Prime, A, B, C ) and Huit Prime. Since I only use Partisan prime and Huit prime for AA and each costs 51 k and 81 k respectively, my AA career caps at the Huit ( planes go up to the 140k + mark ) so it would be nice to buy something around the 111 k mark.

Almost all of the weapons have a hit detection audio cue, the weapons that stand out are gauss weapons and machine gun style weapons. It would be nice to receive confirmation that my AA is actually hitting an aeroplane at 1200 metre range with it's RAC 2 round because all I have to go on is constantly spamming the Q key to "target under reticle" and trying to figure out if I am leading the target enough, with my paint-stripper gun.

Aeroplanes fly so fast that it would be nice to receive either a visual or audio cue on radar ( changing the colour of the airplane from a red to a yellow arrow would be good ).

It would be nice if AA tanks ( HUIT prime ) could keep pace with the slowest mech in the game ( I don't understand why they have to be so slow ).

The only pilots that I have a problem with are ComeAndSee ( because he uses terrain well and really knows how to fly ) and Rally ( a suicide bomber - "my plane cost less than your mech" as he put it, after simultaneously bombing and crashing a plane into multiple mechs ).

I have a 20 and 0 record on Mirage as Anti Air. At some point I'll buy a joystick and do some plane-raping. At that point I will have a more rounded opinion.

There is an indication if you hit: The player name pops up and stays on for a while after you hit him.
