Warning: Your MWLL installation has modified files...
« on: August 04, 2010, 02:02:53 AM »
I tried running MWLL recently and it said it needed a 0.3.2 hotfix to play, so I installed it.
Ran it, got the attached error.
I deleted the mod and reinstalled 0.3.0
Ran it, got the attached error.
I repatched 0.3.2
Ran it, got the attached error.
I deleted Crysis and reinstalled the game and mod
Ran it, got the attached error.

How do I stop getting this error? The game used to work fine a while ago.

Please at least TRY to be helpful or don't say anything at all...

OP, last I knew, you need to install the .31 patch before .32.. Try that yet?

I dont mind being helpfull, but people should learn to look and search before they post.
Only yesterday someone else posted the exact same problem.
That post was the second on the first page before the OP here posted with an almost identical topic line, still the OP created a new post about the exact same problem clearly not even trying to see if there was a solution around first.

Hey, at least he put it in the right forum!

Just so somebody might get something helpful out of this (hopefully by searching the error), here's the standard procedure.

Run C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Crytek\Crysis\Mods\mwll\uninstall.exe, or whatever your install path is.
After that, delete the mods\mwll folder.

Delete the My Games\Crysis\Profiles folder (back it up if you wish)

Install MWLL 0.3.0, then 0.3.1, then 0.3.2

Launch the game and create a profile.

Run the actionmapper utility on the profile if you need to set up custom keys. If it gives you an error about some actionmap missing, create a new actionmap and edit that instead of the default.

?? ?? ??

Profit.

(Also: DO NOT allow Windows to create thumbnails of any pictures in the mwll folder. This will create a thumbs.db file in that folder that will also give you this error. Delete thumbs.db if there is one in your mwll folder.)

Download installer of 0.3.2 instead of zip version if you took zip.
Than install 0.3.2 on your "broken" installation.
It should solve the issue without deinstalling anything

Hey all, made an account just for this same problem...

MWLL runs perfect at version 0.3.0

- at version 0.3.1 I receive the "your MWLL installation has modified files..."
- patching to 0.3.2 I again, receive the same error.

After patching to 0.3.2 the auto-updater displays a new version is available, it downloads fine but won't install (a runtime error or something)

I have now uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times trying different methods, and different download .exe's (torrent and direct download) incase any were corrupt.

Thankyou for any help with this  :-\

**Update**
0.3.1 works fine now. The problem is when I patch to 0.3.2, i get the "your MWLL installation has modified files..."  <-- Yet down the bottom of the launcher it says it's still 0.3.1. I then attempt to use the auto-updater built into the launcher "A update to versions 0.3.2 is available", so I download that but then I receive the runtime error when it attempts to install it. WTF lol.

download the mod and the patches from the german site for mw ll, its worth a try. i loaded my patches and mod from the other sites and it was corrupt so i gave the german site a try and it worked.also scan your patch file to see if there is any viruses in it also install the mod and patch with administratior rights, another is to check and see if your antivirus is stopping somthing to load right.

Hmm, no luck with the German site either - the patching works fine, but afterwards my launcher displays 0.3.1 still as the version, and it gets the modified files error at main menu. Then the auto updater says a version 0.3.2 is available but I get a runtime error when installing that... It's almost like the 0.3.2 exe doesn't even patch, it just messes my files up so I have to reinstall.

Is the patcher working?  You might have to copy paste the patch files like I did.

I've tried redownloading from various sources, removing everything and installing it all from scratch, but no matter what I do, I cannot run 0.3.2 without getting the modified files error. 0.3.0 installs and runs fine. 0.3.1 installs and runs fine. 0.3.2 gives me the error, no matter what I've tried.

Also, the launcher and updater exes refuse to start on my system. I'm on Windows Server 2008 R2, using the Adminstrator account.

Any more suggestions on how to get around this? Where can I find the zip version of 0.3.2?

Yes, the Auto Updater fails on some systems in the current release, as already explained in several other topics. Please use the zip file directly.

My apologies for the inconvenience, it should all go away with 0.4.0 release Soontm.
Thank you for your understanding.
