Decided to give this a shot and now when I click the Internet Tab under Multiplayer it sits for a moment and says Connection to Server Failed. Another anomaly that happens is that after the Wandering Samurai splash the menu shows up and the game sort of freezes for a moment (though the cursor can still be moved).

I was able to get a LAN game to start just to test and it appears to have worked as intended. Just cannot play multiplayer over the internet.

Is there a tweak I need to make to the cfg to get the multiplayer working again?

That cfg only does something with the graphics settings. Maybe you hit the time where the Gamespy servers where down.

I've spent hours tweaking CCC.  I think the part that applies to be is "buy a new pc" which isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Then I'm very sorry. I especially hoped that this guide would help you, as I read multiple times that you have performance issues.

What exactly does this CCC do? I can run Crysis and MWLL pretty fine, not maxed out, but still looks beautifull. SSRM Vulture is tough though. But I was wondering if I can have an even better visual experience if I'd be to use CCC.

The CCC does tweak the Crysis visual for bets performance / result ratio. On the highest settings you can get even better results than with standard config. For example dx10 only effects on dx9

@~SJ~ Blur
can you please post your complete pc spec here.

Also please run the console commandos "profile 1" (for detailed proffiling) and "profile 6" (for category profiling) while you are playing and keep an eye on what takes up the most time and post that here please. (with "profile 0" you can turn it off again. you might need to enter "con_restricted" 0 before you can any commands)

Another option would be to reduce the graphics settings even more in your Graphics driver. It might look totaly ugly then, but gain you a few FPS.
Also be shure to disable the crysis clouds (there is a console command for that which I don't know right know)
Also make shure that you don't have any background applications running. Close your antivirus / firewall and everything else thats running in background before playing. If you are running Vista or 7 going back to XP might also gain a few fps.

Windows XP is worse for MWLL than win 7, more unstable, and there is no FPS gain. In fact even in vista I doubt you will notice any FPS difference.

Make sure Windows isn't deideding to index your HDD while your playing as well,  and that nothing else is schedeled to happen (Like Virus scans etc)

I can run the game on max settings and CCC = wank. My friend tried it (He can run high perfectly fine in DX9) and it just lowered the FPS by more than half to make it look the same. Now I will agree MAYBE if he had no life and had time to tweak it he could get it to look better without losing FPS. But soooo not worth it.

CCC is probably awsome if your graphic card is completly and utterly fail, but otherwise I don't see the poit in it, and it won't magically fix graphical problems.....

At the end of the day if you want to make the geme pretty CCC MIGHT help, but it's nothing compaired to buying a new graphic card :D (Yes I know people are poor, but you get what you pay for.)

For me the CCC almost doubled my framerate. But I assume that depends on the machine used.
For PC's with low ram XP can bring quite some performance boost, as windows 7 uses more ram then XP.

Windows 7 uses less ram if you have less ram in the machine. People use windows 7 on netbooks becuase it gives all the benifits of Win 7, without any effect what so ever on the system. Win7 was in fact made for laptops and netbooks in mind, because they knew how sucky vista was on those type of machines. Microsoft might not be the best corporation, but they wasn't that silly to make an OS even worse than Vista :D

Not to mention Win 7 comes with x64 which lets your PC/laptop use extra ram if you have it ^^ (Don't talk about the failure of x64 Xp lol)

The only reason not to use Windows 7 is:

1) Your poor/Can't be bothered

2) The program or game you want to play is not supported by Windows 7

I think you will find it's almost always reason 1 :D

And yes as I said, if your machine is really lacking the power to run Crysis/MWLL, then sometimes CCC can let you actually play. But if you can already play it well, there is no point at all, without spending alot of time tweaking settings to make the game look better, not that your notice when blowing that atlas up ^^

Old/Not very good PC = Get CCC. New or ''decent'' PC = Not worth it.

I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2,4Ghz, 4 gig of ram and a Nvidia 295 GTX grahpics card.
Now tell me that this applies to your statement.

Then I don't belive it doubled your FPS, unless you was running the game on too high a setting, or compairing dx10 to dx9. Becuase I have ATI 5970, and it does nothing, but lower my fps slightly and look a tad worse. I REALLY wish it was a magical button that doubles your FPS, then I could get sweet FPS, but it doesn't :(

Oh and if you just overclocked your CPU a tiny bit, 3ghz being more than enough, but even .1ghz more would give your a better FPS increase than CCC ever could for MWLL in any server with 8+ people.

*Edit* Thought I would remake the point I really do want you to be right and CCC to give FPS increase, so if you did anything special to get that high FPS without effecting how good it looks (I want max prettyness) then please say so I can try!

Used CCC as told in the wiki...the graphics are ok,not as good as with standard cfg but its ok and i have more fps now. The only thing that pisses me off is that when i zoom in when in cockpit, only the middle of the screen is sharp, even if the blureffect is turned off in autoexec.cfg. Someone an idea? Or what command do i need to edit tot turn this effect off?

ok,never mind, play in DX10 now and just been told, that blur is forced with DX10. (but with DX9 i have crashes all the time and with DX10 none at all,is there a way to deactivate blur in DX10?)
