Game mode idea: "Life is Precious"
« on: August 27, 2010, 04:25:37 PM »
You start out as a Cadet, and rank up as usual as you score damage.

However, whenever you die, you start back as a cadet.

The winner is the player who has been highest ranked for longest.

To stop players from hiding once they achieve a high rank, they lose score/rank if they don't score damage at least once per minute.

hmmm, this really promotes long range battles...  I'm not sure about it.  On the one hand it does reward action, on the the other it really makes short range battle not very popular (as you're more likely to get killed)

Though it sounds like a good idea, the problem I see are newbies, or players with "low" skill. (while low is relative)
They'd be stuck with lights, for the whole game, while a few good ones already field assaults.

I'm not really a pro, but I normaly have KDs of about 17/1, so while it'd be kinda fun for me, my opponents would probably leave after a couple of minutes, because they can't catch up on me only for the fact that I have the bigger mech.

Also, since you recieve your CBills after dieing, the ranks would actually be useless...
If at first you don't succeed try again, and if you don't try again, you'll be hit in the face with a shovel!

No one gets better if they're not challenged.

That said I'd have the minimum rank be warrior, as there's a fair few mechs in that price bracket that are fun and can do a decent enough level of damage to most late game assets

The only new game mode MWLL needs is TC, or similar objective-based mode.

This might be a bit harsh, but atm dying is not a bad thing at all. In most cases you will have ranked up and can even afford a better mech than the one in which you died.
At least returning to base and selling your mech should be rewarded more than it is now.

Ok well what about this modification.

You drop three ranks under whatever rank you are if you die.  But if you kill someone you gain their rank!

So what good is the rank, if after dying you start out with 49k anyways..?

Time in rank is what determines the winner.

You earn money for scoring damage, and you can trade up your Mech in the hangar as usual.
