Aerospace Ramming - Exploit?
« on: September 01, 2010, 02:23:08 AM »
I've noticed frequently in the last couple of weeks that the amount of planes ramming into mine is getting out of  control, sometimes the majority of my deaths, and some players are even resorting to doing it repeatively on purpose. Is there anything that can be done against this blatant game mechanic abuse? I just think its frustrating that some bad players in the community are steeping to such poor and almost exploitive behavior.

I understand that people are frustrated about dog fighting right now, but ramming a 25k plane into my 100k plane so you get a free kill and rank is not the answer.

I also have video footage of people in the act if any admins are interested in weeding out disruptive players out of their servers.

What? You get kill credit for going kamikaze against another ASF? That's inane.

Both players get credit because they dealt damage to each other.

p.s. you can't ram mechs because you bounce off them.

Seriously, I don't fly much so I don't know anything about this, but I'd be PO'd if someone rammed a harasser into my Madcat, blowing us both up.

Not only that, but Sparrowhawk tends to survive many such crushes due to some kind of bug, so you can ram a Shiva and go on flying like nothing happen.

If you don't want to get rammed, get out of the way.

True, flying a Zero into a Carrier while on meth is different than taking out other planes by crashing into them to rank up.

Wow. Have you ever piloted a shiva before, even once? They handle kind of like oil tankers.

While there continues to be no penalty for dying, people will continue to not value their in-game lives.

More effective air-to-air munitions would also encourage people to dogfight 'properly'.

So shoot him down before he rams you?

Unless the problem is somehow that you're having issues with ASF being able to do the full extent of its damaging attack in a single pass, while remaining too durable to counter between high armor and lag shield? ;)

Which, of course, you can find tons of people around here who sympathize with you for that.

If you have ever flown a shiva you know that getting out of the way or shooting down anything that is flying is almost completly impossible. It's just not possible, they aren't designed for that purpose, they are designed to be able to take some damage from fighters shooting at them, they are not designed to be sucided into non stop with no penaty for the other player.

The only thing you can do, is get in a nice cheap fighter and sucide into their fighter, and see who doesn't get bored first wins.....
