I am curious as to the choice in having the cockpit so far offset from center.  Most of the miniature and reference line drawings have the cockpit either perfectly centered, or only slightly deviated.

But very cool design regardless!

I really like the look of your model. Cant wait to see it textured and finished. The weapons look just a little "boxy" atm but like you say, it's not finished yet and texturing will cover most of that kind of thing anyway. Are you planning on donating this model to the devs for mwll or is it just a personal project ? Eitherway, it's cool lol

I was also curious as to the cockpit position, most of the drawings and images I've seen show it dead centre, though I think the mw4 one had an offset cockpit(reference drawing link for cauldron born from mw4, is this your reference ?, looks very similar.. well done if it is - http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t203/Ironwill_toon/MechWarrior_4_Cauldron_Born_by_Mecha_Master.jpg )

Do you mind if I ask how much time you have put into it so far ? just out of curiosity.. My 3d modelling skills are nowhere near where I want them lol, I think I could manage to create a mech, but it would take me literally forever and probably wouldnt look how I wanted anyway lol...

Also, I always liked the images that this mech's name evokes in my mind, a huge behemoth battlemech crawling from some mystical steaming, overflowing with liquid metal, mech making, cauldron looking machine. lol.. I know it's silly, but thats just what it's name has always put in my head.

Cauldron-born... awesome name lol.

I based it on a combination of the link provided by Wilson and the final MW4 model, then beefed it up a little to look more like an armoured war machine and try to make those legs look like they can take some weight

I just thought that having the cockpit a little further off centre gives it a little more character, setting it apart from the majority of mechs. It also makes it look wider and more low slung as per the fluff that i've read.

I suppose that it is both a personal project and one that I would want to donate as well (if it is good enough). Im not sure how much time i've put in as it's a little sporadic. Im using Wings3D for the modelling and rendering in Blender.

Would like to have seen that ingame.

I was thinking a config of
2 x LBX10
1 x Medium Laser
1 x Streak SRM4
1 x LRM10
BAP

Another config I thought of would be
1 x erPPC
1 x Guass
1 x SRM 4
1 x LRM10

Maybe up to an LBX20, Guass or erPPC in the arms (large Omni Pod) and up to a Large Laser in the side torso (Medium Energy Pod).

The Hollander has a semi-offset cockpit right now, and it's pretty hard to notice, so I feel it's safe to say that unless the Cauldron Born's cockpit is super offset, it shouldn't feel terribly unusual.

Looks awesome.  Can't wait to see it finished.

Some CC:  I do think I would put some armor in front of that intake vent.  Seems to me that direct access to the core from the front would be a design flaw.  Not to mention it's definitely bigger than a womp rat.  That torso laser could use some love too.  Last but not least, you might want to make sure the torso isn't going to clip the legs when rotated.  It looks like it would as is.

As has been said, the off-center cockpit is definitely cool.

Very nice work. Definitely would add some uniqueness to the MWLL mech selections and I do like how you have taken some creative license and made the mech a little different. Would be nice if the Vulture, Catapult, Timberwolf legs worked on it because that would really get it into the game a lot quicker if you gave the design to the Mod.

I'd love to see a Cauldron-Born added to MW:LL. It's a favorite to us in 1FSAC. A real powerhouse that can stand up to almost anything and take the punishment. King, is there any way you can add this baby to the Mechs once this model is finished?
