You beat me to it! I considered making a thread but was going to wait till I actually played it. I bought it on Steam, currently 60% and downloading at 1.2 MB/s ;D

Fun
Compare to civ IV this one is loads better
Combat is more strategic and fun *no more unit stacking*
graphics are excellent
and te diplomacy screen for each civ is rather neat
I say that this was money well spent.

Played the demo and loved it.
My dad loves Civ 3 the most, so I don't know how much he'll enjoy it, but this is my favorite one yet.

The Demo kinda pisses me off though, because it ends just before me and some AI are about to own some bichuz >:(

Alpha Centauri is the best Sid Meier game IMO, which is basically Civ III IN SPAAAAAAAAAACE!!

Also it's REALLY REALLY GOOD. It is, in fact, PC Gamer's highest rated game of all time, though it keeps moving down in those "best 100 games" lists they like to make. Personally, I think it's aged well, but I guess not everyone agrees. ::)

Does it have space unicorns?

Because if it does, I'll have to ask that one Jewish navy seal for some M16 clone/crazy British guy with explosives to help me kill them :D

civ III is about 300% time better than Civ IV, imo. I shall buy civ 5, but tell me: is it closer to civ 3, civ 4, or civ 6 ;) (new, better)

if it's as cluttered and different from civ3 than civ4 I might not like it.

alpha centauri was made before civ III, but I like it too.

p.s. civ3 gold edition is selling in the us (in some places, anyways) still. its got multiplayer too!
Are we here yet?

I've only played Civ IV (I wish I've played the others) and imo it is a lot smoother than the IV. Also the new combat system is one nice change from Civ IV. just my opinion

Yeah, no more one tile armies. It creates really interesting situations, necessitates a whole new level of tactical thinking, and makes good use of the new hexes.

This

Personally, I don't know much about the Civ 3/4 comparison, but I liked 4 more (I'm guessing because of the graphics. I was only 12 at the time), so you might like 3 more.

As far as gameplay, I don't really know which you'll like more.
Try the demo, it'll probably give you a good idea
