MechWarrior: Living Legends 0.4.0 Release - Delayed
« on: September 29, 2010, 05:34:39 PM »
Hello MWLL Fans,

As you might have guessed from the crickets, the team needs to delay the release of our MechWarrior: Living Legends 0.4.0 update.  A combination of factors has led to this that I won't go into detail over, but the usual suspects are in play:

  • bugs
  • resource availability
  • codebase cross polination
  • real life
However, there is some good news that I can offer to offset the bad...

We have MechWarrior: Living Legends ported and running on Crysis Wars.

It still requires some bug hunting and fixing, but the game will start and players can join the game.  We are actively testing the new build and have discovered some issues that need to be resolved.

We are still expecting MechWarrior: Living Legends 0.4.0 to be released within the next few weeks, and this release would be inclusive of parallel Crysis and Crysis Wars support.  To appease those that hunger for information, I have written up an overview of the Terrain Control gamemode that will be included with 0.4.0  This will be followed by an overview of our enhanced league support options.

Thank you again for your support of MechWarrior: Living Legends!

Better bug free and late than buggy and on time!

Are clients and server cross compatible? e.g. Can clients running Crysis Wars play on servers that are using Crysis? Can servers running "Wars" accept Crysis clients?

Will you be recommending players switch to Wars for 0.4?

Crysis and Crysis Wars are not cross-client compatible.

Wars is our intended destination for the MWLL mod.  As Toth was developing our Wars port he discovered that establishing parallel support *should not* be too difficult to maintain.  Whether that plays out in reality is yet to be seen.

I do recommended Wars going forward simply because the Wars codebase is relatively newer (for both the client and server) and has some useful community features like the map auto-downloader.  Wars also supports dual-wielding of weapons by BA infantry which is necessary for our charted BA role upgrade path.

Damn.  I was hoping for dual-welding ;)

I hope most of our regulars are really for the Wars port.  Would have to see the player base fracture more.  Hmm on the BA path, well right there is going to be interesting, can't imagine the cry/nerf posts if BA can get two HMLs ;)

Totally agree, rather have it be late and right than, on time and buggy.  The addition of the Wars port to 0.4.0 makes the delay worth :D.

Dual Micro Heavy Lasers? Now there's a concept. Makes me want to cream. . . .

Anyway, I'm with you guys. I'd rather have it delayed to fix the bugs and nuances than to have it delivered buggy and error-ridden. As to Wars, great to hear that MW:LL is finally being ported over. I'm looking forward to putting away my Crysis CD. Cause with Wars, you don't need the CD to play the game. Just log-in, and wham! You're good to go!

But what I want to know is this: can we get some screens on the Ares Medium Tank? Or is that relatively unfinished?

So if i understand correctly: we will be able to play the new release in Crysis and also in Wars, but with separate player bases? I have some playing buddies that only own crysis, should i tell them to buy wars now or that they have some more time?

Also, dual wield might only be necessary for incorporating the claw. Dual heavy lasers= too broken

Dual wielding BA weapons?
You just made me very, very happy  ;D
Never arm once what you could arm twice.

Wars also supports dual-wielding of weapons by BA infantry which is necessary for our charted BA role upgrade path.

This gives me happy thoughts of heavier battle armor models like the Golem.

Who cares about more mHLs, when I can get dual AC2s and enough running speed to actually dodge incoming fire?
Thanks for the view.

I'm worried about splitting the player base as well. I'd rather be "All-in", everyone moves to Wars, and crysis gets left in the dust. No confusion that way.

And I suspect the dual-wield BA weapons are so BA players don't have to switch between weapons. Dual MHLaser would ruin the game.

ah  ;D
Nice update .. looking forward to the release .. and playing TC mode :)

although i like to have the choice between "Crysis" and "Wars" (im hoping for "not falling through any objects" etc. in Crysis-Wars ) ..
i think it is not necessarily a good idea to pursue both games for a prolonged time .. it may split the community ..

to the dual wielding ... i would like to see a laser that can be shot only as long as you actualy use the button (for mechs and BAs) .. and - of course - an BA with heat problems in case of an constantly fired dual MHL :D
(just like the weapon overheating in vanilla crysis ..)
