looks like 0.4.0 might be a parallel release between crysis and wars, however you can not play with those using a different version. ie plain crysis can only play with plain crysis etc.

Most vets will move to wars baring any major bugs that make it worth staying on vanilla crysis.

I believe wars only comes in the Crysis Maximum set.

So i guess the question is, what is the benefit to moving over to crysis wars instead of staying on regular crysis?

From what I've gathered, you will not be forced to change over to Crysis Wars now, but it would still be advised.  They said they will do parallel support for Crysis and Crysis Wars for a few beta versions; but will at some point, move exclusively to Crysis Wars.  Also, this is just a guess on my part, but I'm thinking the original Crysis servers will become extremely empty.  Crysis Wars has much better net code and the ability to auto-download maps hosted on the server.  Hope this help.  :)

I'm curious what you all think.  I'm thinking the dual wielding will be mainly for the use of the offhand claw and not for "weapons akimbo" as awesome as that would be.

*edit*  If you aren't in a real hurry to switch over I would keep an eye on Steam.  You can sometimes find Crysis Warhead, which includes Crysis Wars, on sale there for about $10 dollars.

Let me be blunt and say it would be better if you did somehow get Wars.  Everyone here is looking forward to the improved net performance that comes with Wars that might even include some mediation of the lag issues that have plagued the mod from its start.  Another big selling point is the ability to automatically download maps if you join a server and don't already have the map.  There are some pretty good custom maps out there, so this can only be a good thing.

Wars is where this mod is going, and if you don't get it, you're only going to play half the game.
Thanks for the view.

Being able to fire the SRM2 along with the MHL is going to be a huge perk. 8)

That said, the biggest hope I have is that there will be less server wonkiness, lower ping, and fewer random disconnections.

Good to know. I only purchased mine on Steam, and they had Warhead sold by itself.

No one's said that's going to happen, but you can already quick fire the SRMs.  Just set your right mouse button to switch to the SRMs.  You can be my guinea pig and find out if making it a fire button as well works half as well as I would hope.

okay, thanks for the replies, looks like crysis wars is the way to go. being able to auto d/l custom maps is awesome. Similar to the way counter strike source works im guessing. I work at best buy and crysis warhead is already pretty cheap so its not like its gonna break the bank. I guess I'll pick it up tomorrow and be ready for the patch when it comes.

Yep sounds like it is time to finally buy Warhead.  My guess is Crysis: Vanilla will be a ghost town after 0.4.0. The ability to download user made maps is a case study in evolution and natural selection.

It's the most logical choice for dual-wielding, except the ill-fated claw that I really don't see working. The problem with switching to it is that I have to wait for a lock, which is kind of irritating on ECM-protected Mechs. Yes, I know you can blind fire them, I do that on assaults all the time, but it would still be nice not to have to bother.
