Or maybe it's cockpit is in it's Torso?
At least the chest part looks kinda like the head of a Hunchback IIC ???

I wouldn't mind if the mouth had some "fangs" but the full bar cage there would make the Mauler bar issue look tame in comparison.
I didn't meant cage - besides that, cage can also be solved well - Shadowcat has cage-alike cockpit, yet noone is bothered with it. Something similar could be done with Kodiak. Only 4 metal bars instead of two.

Or you can just make everything in glass, and put fangs on top/bottom of the pilot screen. - from exterior it'd look like mad bear.

I hope the author of this thread won't be offended because I go offtopic but I gotta ask somethin...

Ok so I was wondering when you were talking about the cockpit cam issue with the Kodiak and you mentioned the Atlas, that could it be possible to have an adequate field of view from the cockpit when the cockpit has a pair of eyes (in this case the Atlas's 'skullhead')? I have an attached picture with some suggestions. I hope you can take a look at em, especially the first two, and give me feedback especially if they 'wouldn't' work.

I think the short answer would be that the camera is tied to the head of your "pilot", and if they were placed that far forward, there would be arms and legs sticking out of the face of the 'mech.

Jonttu - aside from the camera placed in the eye - all other will lead to heavily obscured vision, something like... driving a tank. Atlas classical head unlike Kodiak used to have mouth very small, not even saying about the nose, therefore giving extremely limited field of view.
It can't be in the eye, because camera needs to be placed in center of symmetry. So it cannot be moved to left/right eye.

:S Oh...
Well isn't the camera off-center on the hollander for example? Isn't its head off-center?
How about Thor/Summoner when you're about to add it to the game (I really hope you do)? Isn't its head off-center as well?

Uhh no. I believe it was the pilot's head before but has been a standalone camera placed in the cockpit ever since they thought it was too troublesome to have the pilot's eyes be the 'eyes' because of limited fov... At least that's what I remember hearing before.

oh... good point. Maybe I'm wrong about it than. I just recalled that Oro does have asymmetrical camera too. ???

Hey, hate to necro, but does anyone know how the boys over at mektek are fairing with their project? I keep seeing and hearing MWLL shouted from the rooftops of various little gaming getogethers, but I have heard not a word of the mektekians.
