Your rank?
« on: October 05, 2010, 09:15:39 AM »
(Just another poll to waste your time.. or give you something to do while waiting for .4)
In MechCommander style, what level of rank do you think you fit into as a player in MWLL?

You know, these designations are also in CBT, or rather were invented there. Not just Mech Commander. Fun fact!

I think all these so called 'elites' need to challenge me in the FC Leagues, maybe then they can prove such bold a claim? ;)

I clicked elite because I thought it was CBT at first. I bet I am probably vet or regular though.

*Grins* Oh I don't doubt your ability Matthew based off what I have heard, although I would like to see you in action at some point however. =)

well, I was pwned once by Maus on FC, though I played very stupid that day, I don't think I had a chance in the first place... ;D

Haven't been playing much lately, but judging from the fact that I rarely get killed on a pub even when brawling, I'd say I'm a vet...

Hmmn. Interesting results.
I think I will not put my vote down on this.

Keep a look out on the ladders for any upcoming matches then. Most people don't mind spectators. So you can probably get in contact with the participants of a match and find out where they are holding the match and drop by as a spetator.

/Merf - Sure don't mind spectators.

My first intention was Regular, but I think I am on the better side to become a Veteran. Surviving a lot lately.

I don't think the FC league is a good measure of player skil (not that I'm denigrating your skill MausGMR). I just feel this is a combined arms game that requires teamwork. e.g. Its a whole lot harder to narc an enemy hiding behind a hill with all his buddies in a raven than to sit back and snipe with a Novacat from just outside your base. Yet that raven pilot, who won't get much of a score on his own, will help his team immensely.

Some mech variants are excellently suited for 1 on 1 duels. A whole lot more are suited for teamwork and combined arms play.

There are things to be said about the FC league to be sure (its only in its first beta season after all...) but currently I would say it is the only measure of skill we have.

/Merf - Thinks someone calling itself 'Elite' must surely have at least above average skill in most areas of the game, no?

Any kind of 1v1 duel system establishes a players ability to play the game and win at it. As much as teamwork and team skill has it's own value, and a player can be rated on this, I think what is important however, is a players ability to kill his enemy.

Let's not forget, it's the Athlete who wins the gold medal, not his support staff.

Teamplay.

It's combined arms game, not a duel simulator. Skill in 1vs1 duels doesn't mean crap if you cannot behave and play in a team (what is quite common feature of the best shooters/killers whatever in football or in computer games or any other). FCL doesn't reflect this in any way really right now.

(again: Nothing to deal here with MausGMR)

Guys, just to point out, I really don't care if you rip me. I'm just throwing the challenge out ;)
