Maneuverable? Remains to be seen (oh noes its too good lets rip out the reactor and make an abomination that only runs 75kph!)

So long as it is balanced properly relative to everything else, we will do what is necessary and appropriate.

The Thor does need a variant around the Gauss, do the clans have access to Heavy Gauss?
No, but Clanners have the Hyper-Assault Gauss which is basically a giant 16 ton shotgun and is capable of doing 40 damage (HGR does 25) in the boardgame.

You will not see HAG in MWLL on my watch.

FIRST OF ALL IT IS THE SUMMONER NOT THE THOR

SECONDLY...THERE IS ONLY ONE SUMMONER PRIME
ERPPC
LB-10X
LRM-15

AND I SWEAR IF SOMEONE TRIES TO MAKE IT LIKE THE MW4 SAME ARM ON BOTH SIDE BS I WILL NEVER BE SILENT UNTIL A REAL SUMMONER IS MADE

I'm okay with anything as long as they don't include vestigial hands and fists. Like on the Ryoken or Nova. Because those just look reall, really bad especially since punchy-slappy isn't in MWLL :)

So, the Thor (Summoner), is running around with 25.5 tons of pod space and has the following pods available 2x Arm Assault or smaller, 1x Shoulder Heavy Pod, 2x Leg Missile Racks: 2-5 missile tubes each. Stripping the Jump Jets nets an additional 5 tons.

So, what sort of crazy variants can we cook up?

Variant 1
- CLPL - RA
- CLPL - LA
- CLPL- RT
- CSRM2 - RL
- CSRM2 - LL
- Jump Jets
- 6 Double Heat Sinks

Variant 2
- 3x CMPL - RA
- 3x CMPL - LA
- 3x CMPL- RT
- CSRM2 - RL
- CSRM2 - LL
- Jump Jets
- 5 Double Heat Sinks
- GECM

Variant 3
- 2x CERLBL - RA
- CUAC20 - LA
- CLRM-15- RT
- CSRM2 - RL
- CSRM2 - LL
- Jump Jets
- 1 Free Ton

Variant 4
- CUAC20 - RA
- CGauss - LA
- Dual CSRM6 - RT
- 3 Free Tons

Keep in mind it seems weapon weight doesn't matter for many variants and things go squirrely! Aren't most mechs overweight compared to the 'real' weapon weight values?

I think someone counted and found most where offset by a downgraded engine, no?

/Merf - Might of course have read that wrong...

I just wonder if we'll see the leg mounted weapons.

Not reasonably feasible given the way Crysis does attachments to characters.

Assume they're attached to the hip/waist like on the Atlas. Honestly, I think the Thor is perfectly fine with just the 3 big weapon mounts. Can easily take any of those variants and slap all the missiles into the one shoulder tube using LRM-20s or Dual CSSRM-6s, or just drop them if they're the weenie SRM-2s.

Variant 1 without leg missiles
- CLPL - RA
- CLPL - LA
- CLPL- RT
- Jump Jets
- 7 Double Heat Sinks

Variant 2 without leg missiles
- 3x CMPL - RA
- 3x CMPL - LA
- 3x CMPL- RT
- Jump Jets
- 6 Double Heat Sinks
- GECM

Variant 3 without leg missiles
- 2x CERLBL - RA
- CUAC20 - LA
- CLRM-15- RT
- Jump Jets
- 2 Free Tons

Variant 4 without leg missiles
- CUAC20 - RA
- CGauss - LA
- Dual CSRM6 - RT
- 3 Free Tons

Thor (Summoner) Prime without leg missiles
- CERPPC - RA
- CLB20X - LA
- CLRM20 - LT
- Jump Jets
- 1 free ton
- LAMS

Thor (Summoner) A without leg missiles
- CLPL - RA
- CGauss - LA
- Dual CSSRM6 - LT
- Jump Jets
- 2 free tons
- GECM

I don't know how I feel about the LBX20. On one hand, the LBX20 is pretty much required or else the Summoner becomes out gunned for its class (LBX10+LRM20 = meh). On the other hand, that LBX20 is a pretty heavy piece of kit and shouldn't actually fit on the mech. Then we have to consider that while the Summoner may not have heat problems with respect to its weapons, it may have heat problems once it starts using its jump jets to its advantage. I mean, look at the Mechwarrior 2 intro...

Wait. Bad example.

To be honest, I'm not too worried about it. The variants might be a little stupid, but I believe this mech in the Prime configuration will be the premier Clan heavy mech because it will not be as expensive as the Novacat, Hellbringer, or Timber Wolf, while having heavier armour than the Hellbringer and Mad Dog and having a well balanced load out. I mean, the Hellbringer, in canon, has 8 tons of Standard. That's pretty poor, even considering that it has enough weapons to rape everything else on the field. The Mad Dog has a "respectable" 8.5 tons FF, and the Timber Wolf has a whopping (for a 75 tonner) 12 tons of FF (14.4 standard). I hope it'll have a nice acceleration curve or something.

What the devs want to do with the variants is totally up to them. I mean, it's an omnimech; they could do whatever they wanted. Short range, long range, ammunition based, laser based, etc.

Of course, my biggest concern is will I be able to recreate the Mechwarrior 2 intro movie? If anybody's up for that, we should totally do that. All we need to do is get a Timber Wolf that shoots "Arrow IVs". And has Machine Guns.

Alpha Assault, this is HQ, what is your situation, please comply.

Oh, and of course once we get the Kodiak, we can do Ghost Bear's Legacy as well.

KODIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK

Also, how come all the pilots in Mechwarrior intro movies suffer from an incredible case of stupid? I mean, Mechwarrior 2, Mechwarrior reboot trailer...

Sounds like a problem to me if an LBX-10 is considered 'undergunned'. Didn't the Annihilatior in MW3 have two, one on each arm? They were REALLY good in that game htoug maybe it's because it would knock mechs on their butt.

aieee! Please, no boats for the Summoner. Just don't do it. It doesn't fit this mech :'(

It had 4 of them.

On the other hand, that LBX20 is a pretty heavy piece of kit and shouldn't actually fit on the mech.
Since when has that ever stopped them form doing it anyway? The criteria for variants include not weight, but rather "is it op?"

it may have heat problems once it starts using its jump jets to its advantage.
I'm hoping this heat insanity will be fixed in 0.4.

What the devs want to do with the variants is totally up to them. I mean, it's an omnimech; they could do whatever they wanted.
The way we rip out engines and fixed components and change armor plating on Omnimechs to sacrifice their Omni capabilities, no, we have very few real Omnimechs left ;)

I just jizzed in my pants.

All we need to do now is recreate this in Mirage. It'll be one hell of a coordination effort, but it'll be awesome.

I'm just showcasing the boats that mechlab will inevitably allow.

Personally, I love the straight up original Prime.
- CERPPC - RA (solid weapon)
- CLB10X - LA (decent range, faster reload than LB20X)
- CLRM15 - LT (great for adding weight to a narc barrage, or for adding firepower during a sniper fight with your PPC)
- Jump Jets (love JJs)
- 4 Double Heat Sinks (cool running)
- 2 Free Tons (moar bangbang)

It's like a Puma B but with twice the armor, jump jets, no heat problems, an LRM15, and twice the ammo for the LB10X.

I actually like the 1 Gauss, 1 UAC20, 1 Dual SSRM6 version quite a lot. I would however swop those srms with lrms so that the mech can increase its damage on long range with the UAC20 as a short range defense mechanism (also this is no boat :P).

As for LBX10: Great weapon vs. BA and air, yet you would need at least 3 or even 4 of those to impose a real threat (Annihilator = 100t of rape).
