I don't know how I feel about the LBX20. On one hand, the LBX20 is pretty much required or else the Summoner becomes out gunned for its class (LBX10+LRM20 = meh). On the other hand, that LBX20 is a pretty heavy piece of kit and shouldn't actually fit on the mech. Then we have to consider that while the Summoner may not have heat problems with respect to its weapons, it may have heat problems once it starts using its jump jets to its advantage. I mean, look at the Mechwarrior 2 intro...
Wait. Bad example.
To be honest, I'm not too worried about it. The variants might be a little stupid, but I believe this mech in the Prime configuration will be the premier Clan heavy mech because it will not be as expensive as the Novacat, Hellbringer, or Timber Wolf, while having heavier armour than the Hellbringer and Mad Dog and having a well balanced load out. I mean, the Hellbringer, in canon, has 8 tons of Standard. That's pretty poor, even considering that it has enough weapons to rape everything else on the field. The Mad Dog has a "respectable" 8.5 tons FF, and the Timber Wolf has a whopping (for a 75 tonner) 12 tons of FF (14.4 standard). I hope it'll have a nice acceleration curve or something.
What the devs want to do with the variants is totally up to them. I mean, it's an omnimech; they could do whatever they wanted. Short range, long range, ammunition based, laser based, etc.
Of course, my biggest concern is will I be able to recreate the Mechwarrior 2 intro movie? If anybody's up for that, we should totally do that. All we need to do is get a Timber Wolf that shoots "Arrow IVs". And has Machine Guns.
Alpha Assault, this is HQ, what is your situation, please comply.
Oh, and of course once we get the Kodiak, we can do Ghost Bear's Legacy as well.
KODIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAK
Also, how come all the pilots in Mechwarrior intro movies suffer from an incredible case of stupid? I mean, Mechwarrior 2, Mechwarrior reboot trailer...
