Yeah, to confirm I own the crysis maximum via steam

I had to get the 64 bin file on my own,
I DO NOT own the key. (eff it, they revoke it or cancel my account again, I hack my own game)
They DO, log you out for arbitrary reasons (Suspicion of fishing was my favorite, logged out 3 weeks to get an email saying I was "past suspicion" and my account was unsuspended. Like I need to mine someone else's data, not the other way around.

Until your Disk fails and you have to reinstall EVERYTHING from a retail media or ISO. Happened to me and I was GLAD I could just hit "download all" and be done with it

You must have godlike internet connection! for me it would take half a year or so, to download everything from web sources.

But at least you could fix it yourself.
Even with a complete reinstall you are looking at maybe a day worth of downtime. Compare that day to the three weeks some have waited to get their accounts unlocked from whatever  bos taurus droppings had them lock the account in the first place.

But yes, when it works steam is really nice. I love the concept, especially with those games that can even store your profile online so your saves etc are stored across platforms. My main issue with it is still the demand to be online. The offline mode is not as offline as one would like and is not in my opinion not the availability guarantee I want.

Everyone who is able to should own a hard copy of game vs. the Steam version since a hard copy means you can do what you want with it, vs. doing what valve lets you do with it.

No, the steam gameserver will not connect I spent a month going back and forth via email doing everything they asked and removing programs that worked before the crash with steam and I still cannot connect to steam game server. Yet I can still connect to the steam forums and main webpage with my username and password, If I had been banned for BS hacking I would have been banned from everything. 2 I do not hack considering I do not know how to do so, when I have problems I have teammates in CBS including one of the development team with MWLL who knows his stuff and still epic fail with Steam. One of my Team mates had his wife send me a new (still in the factory wrapper) Warhead/wars game that he had not yet used or installed. He is in Iraq at this time and he purchased a new max edition through the PX system it was cheaper that way because it would have cost him 3x as much to have his game sent to him by his wife.

I had trouble connecting to the steam servers a while back, turned out it was my router burning out (not surprising from the cheap POS I got from my ISP), so you might wanna try replacing it
