lbx or ac?
« on: November 04, 2010, 10:52:44 PM »
which do you prefer/? From what i can see you have to get in so close for lbx to be effective.
Am I wrong about this? A better question is which Scat do you guys like better. THE lbx or the ac20?

LBX's and AC's have different usage and it depends on what task is ahead. If there is Aero's I go for LBX, if there is none I use either AC10 or 20's for medium brawling or LBX20 for close and personal business.

LBX is better vs lights and mediums, AC better vs heavies and assaults.
Either way AC10 is pretty trashy.  8)
I would like to see more LBX10 to see how it does.

In almost any situation other than against aero's, I prefer to use AC/UAC. Once you get used to leading targets it doesn't matter, light, medium, tank, whatever, you have a great chance to win the fight, especially if you can aim well.

LBX are nice when you want to give a death hug, other wise it takes a lot of discipline to make UAC work for you with out constantly jamming

The Mauler C is a UAC20 rapetrain when you use it right (see sig 8)) and they're probably my best/favorite weapon in MWLL, but LBX20s are really nice for swatting ASF out of the air and I swear by the Scat B for medium brawling. The AC20 Scat is kind of horrible by comparison due to the fire rate being faster and the damage per shot being lower. In the Scat B you can shoot your LBX20 once, do some fancy maneuvering, then line up another shot without having to worry about staying on target.

UACs don't really do enough damage and are jammed even before you can inflict enough on your enemy, and with your UACs jammed you're a sitting duck. So yeah, they suck in almost every situation.

Normal ACs are pretty ok and I prefer them in midrange situations but the King will always be the LBX good again B(g)a(y)s , aeros and almost everything else, there is just no feeling like shooting down a balloning gay moth with your LBX5 Partisan or getting some Shiva annihilated with your Beat Stick. The most satisfying situation one can have in MWLL. :D

I'm gunna have to go with standard ACs or UACs. Chainfiring them can give you nearly constant fire.

and apperently there are alot of stupid aero pilots. It's so disgraceul to see planes being shot down by a beatstick. But I guess they deserved it though.

The faster the mech i pilot kind of makes my choice, though i like both.  Aiming an AC/UAC, while moving at high speeds. can be really hard and kinda wasteful.  LBX 20 takes forever to reload though.
I played in the dual ppc/dual uac10 Madcat the other day on Frosbite, gotta say it was fun and effective, and with only two weapon types; grouping them and wise use of chainfiring i was laying down serious fire almost constantly, just watch your AC heat so you don't git jammed up.
The UAC 10 is easier to aim in my opinion.
Ac 10's are a joke though, think i'd rather have only one AC5 than an AC10.

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)

Undecided. I've been doing some very dirty things to clan mechs with ACs and LBXs lately.

A pair of UAC20s will core a light 'Mech in 2-3 salvos, which at max firing speed is a couple of seconds. I'd beg to differ there. You're probably referring to UAC2/5 though, in which case I'd agree with you. Decent for swatting BA and lighter ASF, but then again just about everything is better at the former and LBX is way better at the latter.

Nope, I was refering to UAC 20s in particular (maybe I should've said so). It's just annoying to run into let's say a Hellbringer and a Timber Wolf or some assault class mechs and get obliterated just because your UACs are jammed before you were even able to take down one of them. Oh, and I forgot to bitch about the heat these ballistic weapons cause, I mean usually they didn't accumulate that much heat in any game if I recall correctly.

You might be right about the Light Mech, but I mean you don't usually field a Mk II against Kit Foxes or Adders but rather more heavy chassis.

Brawling Assault pilots need to be much "smarter" in MWLL more than any other MW game.  They do pack huge firepower BUT they're slow, and even with the armor boost rarely last more than 1 encounter unless they have some sort of back up.

They're strategic units used to either attract attention while their buddies flank OR they're the hammer used after lighter elements have established a combat "advil/line"

The UAC does jam quickly, but if you give it a short rest after 4 or 5 shots you can pop off another barrage and typically make even the heavier mechs have a bad day.

LBX, simply because they actually do burst damage, rather than damage over time.  Before the autocannon nerf, my favourites were the AC and UAC.
