I love riding this babe now and then and I think it's a good tactics guide. Two thumbs up!

 A couple of addition thoughts:

 * if facing a nimble opponent up close, who can outmaneuver you and keep out of your sight, stop and backpedal. That will help you catch him in your reticule.
 * Beatstick is very potent in close combat. It's the only mech that could outgun and outmaneuver Mauler C in close combat at the same time. That means attacking a Beatstick is close combat is bad idea. Thankfully, Mauler's weapons have much longer range, while Beatstick's LBXs are almost harmless after 300m. If engaging a Beatstick, try to soften it with MRMs at long distance and then keep 300-400m between you to maximize your firepower while preventing it's LBXs from attack at full power.

Maybe bring up some weaknesses to watch out for?
I have not much experience piloting it (Its an assault... bleh) but have a decent amount of experience firing at it and I must say the Mauler is my favourite target to heat up. Adder scneak attack for the win. Approach from side/behind preferably just as the Mauler starts to commit to a fight (meaning the pilot just fired MRMs and ACs) and put 2 PPCs into it spiking its heat. Close distance and put flamers on it (Its big and slow so your flamers will actually hit). Then just watch as first one side, then the other and finally the whole mech blows up rewarding the mauler pilot with a suicide from over heat damage.

Another point that could be good to stress is those shoulders. You already touched on this when mentioning manoeuvring as very important. If the Mauler is not manoeuvred correctly it my end up stuck in a situation where others can fire on its shoulders and it can't fire back with most of its weapons (due to them being low in the arms).

General MRM knowledge should be added that the missiles are fly by wire and will try to go where ever your reticle is pointed.

nice guide.

possible addition:
I don't really like piloting assaults in general (I don't like there clumsiness), but I've been knocked arpund by some ppl using this variant.
IMO timing your firing to a point where you can keep your target in a constant "knock-around", giving it no chance to fire back could also be considered part of the tactics associated to this variant.
I know that Tactic is rather important for any mech, but even more for a slow brawler with a huge silhouette like the Mauler C.

@Kit:
from my observation, they don't follow narcs reliably...
sometimes they do, sometimes not.

from what I've been told, they aren't even supposed to do that, since they are wire-guided...
Think someone told me it's a bug...

Quote from: Leeko's Mauler C Guide
The Mauler C works well almost entirely because of its GECM. When running passive it's undetectable on radar to enemies,

According to the Radar wiki page, there's no difference in radar "stealth" between GECM and passive. The page is marked as outdated, but I feel a change in radar mechanics would deserve a line in the changelog, and there's nothing about range for 0.3.x. So, how does it work?

I favour GECM mechs (Loki Prime, Mauler C) and I always keep the radar on (unless I know LRM boats are trying to lock onto me). Actually, I should remember to cut the radar whenever nearby NARCs are likely to mess with my MRMs...

the only and major difference is the GECM now makes your mech totally invisible when running in passive.  Hopefully we can get some people together and get the wiki updated for 0.4.0 while back filling some of the 0.3.x stuff

Good idea, we should organize a wiki editor testival. And GECM definitely makes you invisible to radar when in passive now.

WTF is a testival, I surely do not hope its what it's aspires to, so nah. Though if it was a titstival I'd jump on :P

Not only that, running passive with GECM onboard makes missile lock-on time even longer. That feature saved my live numerous times.
