Ahh!  Thank you much, Wilson.  AVG seemed indeed to be the issue.  After uninstalling I was able to play MWLL and Crysis to my heart's content.

Wars should not influence on your original install of Crysis. Does the issue occurs in Wars to?

i checked out wars for about an hour and got bored getting killed constantly.
it ran fine so i can't really tell.

can i reinstall crysis without messing up warhead and wars?

Wars, Warhead, and regular Crysis are all separate installs, independent of one another in every way.  They do not interact.

how can i do that, since crysis won't start. after clicking the crysis exe, the dvd starts to turn and then the screen stays black. reinstallation of crysis and mwll didn't change anything. i even installed an older catalyst driver, but that didn't help either.

how log do i have to wait for 0.4? i'll behave myself, i'll promise! ::)

The corrupt profile and cyrsis not starting are hand in hand, i'm pretty sure it's in the my docs\my games\crysis folder. I'm at work so don't know for certain.

When the screen stays black, are you running in DX10 mode?  If so, hit Alt+Enter and see if the main menu appears (it should come up in Windowed mode, but sometimes not).  I've had a lot of issues with DX10 games not wanting to run in fullscreen, Crysis and Crysis Wars included.

Thanks for the help guys,
after i deleted my profile I was able to start crysis and mwll normally.

BUT THEN MY GRAPHICCARD NUKED ITSELF!!!! :'(

Now I'm stuck with onboard-graphics, till I get a new card.

Oh bugger!

Try baking your GPU
Has worked for others, and if you have nothing to lose it is a valid option.

Yes I read the post, looks kind scary to me.
And the upside is I still got warranty on my card so I just had to send it in.
I'll refrain from baking experiments for the time being...
