I foresee a potential problem with MWLL not being set at a specific time ;)

The clans are invading! No wait, the counter attack is under way! No way, Huntress is in ruins! Ah no, wait again Huntress is not destroyed yet! Oh wait, it is destroyed and SJ is fighting like remnants on whatever backwater worlds they can hold!

I am thinking that equipment aside a time period should be set. I think I read somewhere that the devs had a loose idea of it taking place during the clan invasions later half, but took the liberty to include tech from other time periods. I am wondering if maybe this loose idea is enough or if something more specific is needed.

/Merf - Sense! We must make it!

I have written an 80K word back story for the MWLL reiteration of Clan Hell's Horses using current and past members as the central characters. (it can be read on the CHH site if anyone wants to take the time) After extensive research and thought I choose 3065 as the starting point. That seemed to fit best with all the mechs and equipment that was available in MWLL when I started writing. Some time ago, I talked to SJ Amarus about Smoke Jaguars and how they fit into the MWLL world. He indicated that either SJ had reformed from the warriors that managed to escape Huntress or that in this alternate time line the invasion of Huntress never happened.

From 3065 to 3070 Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon occupy a substantial portion of the Inner Sphere. Clan Ghost Bear has become part of the Inner Sphere and left Clan Space entirely.Likewise Clan Nova Cat has settled in the Draconis Combine. Clan Hell's Horses is plotting its return to the Inner Sphere and revenge against the Wolves. There are lots of mercenary groups and all five of the major Houses still exist along with Comstar and the Blakist. Although this is not consider the most "classic" part of the Battletech time line it does seem to fit best with MWLL and the diversity of mechs and vehicles included therein. Plus there was a lot going on at the time with many opportunities to expand the story. I my story< I took such an event that was mentioned in BT lore but not really explored thoroughly and expanded it to give our faction of CHH a major role in the rebirth of the clan.

Just my thoughts on the appropriate time period for MWLL.

If SJ Amaris would like I could send him the RP that CBS has written about the remnant Jaguars and perhaps if he likes it he could use it for his unit considering three of our members myself included were lost remnant Jaguars that found a new home with CBS after being rescued from our being left behind during the ordered forced withdrawl. CBS in NBT has been helpful also to CSJ in helping them reform and getting them much needed equipment since we have almost tripled our industrial capacity since our return from exile.

Thorn: I am very curious as to how the rite of surkai was performed. Please post the link to the thread here (once it's ready) or pm me.

I have been in contact with Gremlich and he said he is in the process of cleaning up the Surkai RP before we post fully I will contact you let you run through the RP and get your approval and suggestions. When we do RP concerning other Clans we always try to get them involved in the RP process so we do not run afoul of the direction they wish to take. After this rite of Surkai in NBT we actually ended up being one of CSA's most dependable allies and well thought of units by both Clan and IS units for our honorable actions in and out of combat operations. As for the Surkai right our Loremaster Ryu set forth the right to be done as it is in BT Lore and Canon he has every book and manual that has ever been written and we also have it all on CD Roms so each of us can check to make sure we are writing within Canon, although, in NBT we did wander a little but in the process of writing RP Ryu goes over the RP to insure following BT canon then Grem does the editing and approval for posting and as for myself I will recheck edit and some times I will find an error or two myself (spelling, punctuation or other small errors) we try our best to post well written technically and with proper grammar, for the Clans are know for using proper English with out using contractions.

First of all: Thank you a lot for the information.
Second: Though I see my affiliation in Clan Star Adder, I am no official member or representative of this Clan. My Unit is dCK and probably will be it until my pals lose interest or wander off to other clans/units. By the time we see Clan Star Adder fully included into the community I will probably be tempted to join them (if I am okay with their members and their ideals towards recruiting that is). The reason why I asked you was personal interest only :).

Oh and by the way, I will no longer consider you guys dezgra then :P.

I will still send you the RP so you can get a sense of the ritual of Surkai as we experienced it and If any of the Star Adders wish, just let me know and I will also forward the RP to you also.

I wrote a short story for one of Pytack's amazing screenshots before... gonna have to dig it up, but it wasn't centered around any particular time or event if I can remember correctly.

edit... here it is. Couldn't get the SS, but it was the one of a battle armor smashing in a Timberwolf cockpit.

This is suggested by my friend, he asked if I could get a BA breaking into and stealing a Mech, GTA style. So, here it is :>

If you look closely on the 1st shot, you'll see there's a pilot inside covering his head. I really hope MWLL gets a single player mode, wouldn't it be cool to see some cutscenes looking like this one? ;]

Or maybe someone can think of some story about this scene, what happened before and after, and why didn't the BA just fire his weapons (perhaps he didn't want to kill the driver)? :>

Here's my feeble attempt of putting a short story to your awesome screenshot.

DISCLAMER: ( No particular time or place  just kind of winging it)
House Davion Special Operations
Planet: CLASSIFIED
Date: CLASSIFIED

"Eagle One this is Whiskey-Whiskey, come in" Lieutenant McNally whispered into his comm. He paused and glancing quickly from the wall of dense vegetation in front too his visor's his passive radar.

"All clear," he murmured to himself.

"I repeat...Eagle One this is Whiskey-Whiskey, come in please."

McNally had been dropped onto the outskirts of a Clan Smoke Jaguar forward encampment.  His task was simple, relatively speaking.  Mark the Clanner assets with modified NARC pods fitted into his SRM launchers  for an orbital strike and get out undetected.

His drop, eight hours previously, had gone off without a hitch.  His orbital drop pod landed some twenty clicks north of the suspected encampment, and it didn't take the Lieutenant  long to find the tracks of a reconnaissance squad of lethal Jaguar Elementals leading back to the hidden jungle base.  After nearly seven hours of observing the base from the safety of the dense jungle  McNally had timed the complicated patrol patterns to the second and fired off the two NARC pods undetected into the trees within the base.

"Eagle One this is Whiskey-Whiskey, come in.  I am on site and standing by to confirm delivery of the package," Lieutenant McNally tried for the umpteenth time. "This is FUBAR," he grumbled to himself.

Not only had the orbital strike not come after McNally reported in from his observation point, but command still had not acknowledge his presence.  He glanced down at a giant beetle and crushed it with his grapple claw.  Its gooey innards fizzled and released a small puff of gas as the carapace crushed.

"Damnit, Ally," he instructed his power armored suits computer in annoyance, "run a comm-link analysis for me."

"Commlink, online......" the feminine voiced assured him, "running data pack analysis.... command has relayed your messages to planetary base camp."

"To camp?" McNally felt the blood drain from his face he knew instantly the Clan base somehow had a jammer over the entire region and intercepted his messages.  His mind raced, the Clanners must have been looking for him for the past hour... or had it been two hours since he reported in.... he couldn't remember.

" Oh f---," his thoughts were cut short.  The jungle roared to life. Tracer rounds stung through the  vegetation shredding it in a cacophony of horror before a massive wall of flame roared towards his hidden cove.

Instinctively McNally roared upwards his jump jets clearing him of the hell below, but  instantly revealing his exact position.  His radar lit up, two Elementals and a Madcat.  He quickly he targeted the nearest Elemental feeling his man-pack particle projection cannon hum to life coating his power-armor in a reassuring pulsation of control.   Before the hardened Clan Warrior could even raise his personal laser he erupted in a ball of ionized metal shards and blood.

His companion didn't waste a moment to hesitation however-- instinctively diving behind a massive tree while firing his weapon.  The beam of energy flew true and nailed McNally mid-roll in the air.  His suit landed hard behind a small outcrop of sandstone, saving him from another barrage of machine gun fire from the Madcat.

"Coolant system failure." Ally replied serenely as if McNally wasn't in a fight for his life, "System overheating." The miniature fusion reactor that powered his armor , jet pack, and PPC would not last long without a coolant system.

"Manual overide!" McNally roared without thinking. The Smoke Jaguar Elemental roared overhead two SRM missiles streaking towards the Lieutenant.

McNally was quick, but not genetically engineered Elemental quick.  He had been born  and raised like every other House Davion citizen: with his family and friends... Whom he swore to avenge.  He was not a lab specimen born and bred for the specific purpose of Battle Armor combat.

The two missiles planted themselves deep into the soft sandstone before erupting in a blast that shot McNally skyward as if he wasn't wearing 2000 pounds of armor.  McNally's inherit skill alone saved him from utter ruin.  It was this reason alone why he had made it this long the Davion Special Forces.  He felt his body reach the pinnacle of its ragdoll launch then he took command of the rapidly degrading suit and propelled his armor into the elemental overhead, taking him by surprise.  He cut his jumpjets and aimed his PPC at the Elemental blasting him into oblivion and slamming the Lieutenant violently back to the ground.

"System failure imminent," Ally alerted him.  "Myomer and core thermal collapse in 60 seconds."McNally knew damn well, he would quite literally be a burnt piece of toast before the core collapsed.

Sweated poured off his brow and his skin blistered at every movement of the armor's rapidly overheating musculature.   The Madcat fired off another volley of machine gun fire. The rounds ravaging his external armor; one piercing into the delicate flesh of his abdomen. McNally fell to his knee as the pain blinded him for an instant.  His suit quickly flushed his body with pain-meds and filled his gaping wound with silver foam.

The 75ton Madcat ceased firing and quickly covered the distance to the Lieutenant in three graceful strides.  Its powerful arsenal trained on him.

"You fought bravely, freebirth." the Smoke Jaguar MechWarrior's  voice came in over an intercom. "For that I will make sure the interrogation is brief before they kill y------"

McNally leapt forward using the last remnant of  power his suit had left.  He raised his claw over the cockpit and brought it down in a thunderous strike.  The hardened plas-steel glass shattered as the full weight of his armor came down upon the point.  The claw ripped through the flesh of the Mechwarrior inside silencing his proud voice forever.  The Madcat slumped as the Mechwarrior's neural links were abruptly cut short.

 McNally landed hard below.

"Eject." McNally whispered as his voice faded in pain.  His armor relinquished its grasp and McNally collapsed out onto the damp jungle floor.  Slick with sweat and deep red blood, he landed on his back staring at the rising mid afternoon sun.

Two massive beams of light erupted from the heavens striking downwards towards the NARC beacons.  The massive blasts sent a cooling breeze across his blistered, milky skin.  A grin filled his face as he knew he had avenged his family; his vision slowly fading to black as dark red blood poured from his wounds .....

THE END!

If SJ Amaris would like I could send him the RP that CBS has written about the remnant Jaguars and perhaps if he likes it he could use it for his unit considering three of our members myself included were lost remnant Jaguars that found a new home with CBS after being rescued from our being left behind during the ordered forced withdrawl. first of all please do not mix up Amaris and Amarus, that can be kind of touchy. :P

Secondly I would enjoy learning of your RP. I have become quite extensive in that area as well.

And yes the Jaguars are working on the premise that there were hold outs that were either in warships not in the fight, on other planets not attacked, or are remnants of those who fought. We have taken Huntress back and a few of our OZ worlds but do not have the military might to retake Londerholm, Circe, or the myriad of other worlds stripped from us.

Sorry about that spelling mix up, never the less we have CSJ in NBT as having warship units that had received a scatter order from Huntress during the attack by the IS. These units were in transit back to Huntress but did not make it in time for the battle. So In our RP yes you have Warships aerospace and mech units. The quote I used explaining this was "The harder you try to grasp at smoke the more it squeezes out from between your fingers." The CSJ unit in NBT has retaken Huntress, I also have CSJ having been the founding Clan of an advanced medical tech and Protowarrior program and also an advanced Stealth tech for warships and dropships. If you will send me by PM an addy then I will send you all the rp that concerns CSJ.
