Three mech models and a tank
« on: November 16, 2010, 09:40:46 PM »
Hi all,

Some here might remember me as GraySho, years ago I was quite active as a 3D modeler doing ´Mechs for the Battletech-movie project. Since then many years have passed and the movie never was realised, so I will release those models to the public. If they are for any use for the MWLL mod please go ahead and use them for whatever you wish. It would be a shame that all the hard work would have been for nothing. Please bear in mind that these models are already around six years old and might not be up to today´s standard, but they might serve at least as good reference.
You can download the models @ http://creatorix.tripod.com/models.htm. Because of lack of webspace not all links are working, but at least the wavefront .obj version should be downloadable.

I also want to express my appreciation and deepest respect for this excellent mod which I have enjoyed in a few sessions recently as I have found a bit more time for myself. I hope you will do good progress and keep on working on this.

Regards

!Thug! yeah I dunno if the team could use it as it doesn't appear to be setup for torso twist :(

 Great models, Outlander!

OMG the Shadowhawk ... one of my favs!  :)

Love that one too! Damn, it looks beautiful. I hope devs would pick it up as we sure need more classic mechs.

Looks like it's pelvis could be separated from the torso quite easily, just like it was done with Awesome.

Those mechs were modeled quite strictly after the original design drawings as this was the direction of the short movie, thus the fixed torso. It would be quite easy to set it up for torso twist.

I´m glad that some here like the models, if I find the time I´ll try to make an ingame version of the shadowhawk. Though I can´t promise nothing atm.

Oh yea, Shadowhawk is really awesome! Best of all. But Thug is also great, I love the aggressive look of it, though I feel like it had hands less bulky in original BT arts.

Try to put just a standing still model in the game. It should show you how the things work :) Maybe you'll apply for the Dev team? There's quite a lot of need for various 3D arts to be made yet, especially if you know how to set up low-poly models or animations.

Bringing the model into sandbox might be the biggest issue. I´ve downloaded the XSI Mod tool some time ago and there´s a plugin for sandbox, so I´ll give it a shot.

Outlander,

As you may or may not know, 3DS Max is the optimum 3D modeling program for the CryENGINE2 production pipeline.

...as well as the most expensive one. Sorry, I don´t have the spare money to afford 3DS Max.

A problem which is quite simple to get around.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?

They all look great, though i got a few critiques on the Thug. Just nitpicks mind you, but i think there are some cheap ways to improve the design.

For the thug.
Beef up the ankles and/or make the feet more flushed with the lower legs (current feet look kinda cartoonishly round and the ankles very thin)
Scale up the PPC barrels
Scale up the the knee and elbow joint "hubcaps"

and that's it

Wherever mechs are needed, I am there

The thug is in use at MekTek within the MW4 free release, Yes the shadowhawk was my first favorite mech just a question where is the fold over shoulder AC  barrel? The track is OK The PH and Shadow Hawk are tied up in court by Harmony "is getting real old" Gold, as for that in particular all Lams are tied up under the C&D and the Marauder. Hopefully with S&T they will get it worked out to be able to use the Warhammer and perhaps one or two others if MW reboot ever sees the light of day, and the good folks here at MWLL sure as hell do not need the heartache and BS legal maneuvering of HG.  ::)

I know the ankles are a weak point of the model. As it was supposed to be animated I tried to keep the mechanisms functional but it obviously looks too weak for an 80t Mech.

Though I´m not gonna modify them anymore, it´s been way too long ago to pull them up and work on them again. Anyone who wants to try out and modify/improve the mechs is free to download them.
