Got to play a match with Bobby, he's pretty darn good.  But all this talk of him had an expected win fall for me.  Everyone went after him so they would ignore me :3  to help that along i was ridding tanks so i could drop AC shoots on everyone while  they turn their back to me to go after him :D

Hahah! ;D

This thread just made the rest of this year for me! Thanks folks, I appreciate the honorable mentions and what naught. Frankly, I had been wondering why I was getting slammed on so much lately, then I come here and see this lol. But thanks though!

Now, if I were to give an example of awesome "playerage," I'd say Zathrus is up there with the greats. And it's not so much his K/D ratio, but his persistant style. He keeps stuff going while others may sit back. Always keeps the game exciting.

Oh, and let us not forget Nitro, Wangmauler, 4204ME and some of the other greats that always find a way to raise my blood pressure with cliff hanger moments lol.

... To bad more of those guys don't post on the boards too.

I'll try to be a bit more active just for you square.  ;D

Yeah, that's true. Someone could call him reckless but he made the game much more fun to a lot of players by making his daring attacks and I'm sure he has a lot of fun himself, fearlessly engaging superior enemy forces and showing both teams' campers how good pub game should be played. Way to go, man! <S>

I would also have to nominate Insane Javeyard. First of all he is a very good team player (knows how a bank works and is talkative) and then there are his fighting skills. The problem with him is that he is usually quite predictable (Warthog or Timber Wolf B/C), but still he is quite a good fighter who doesn't just hang back and pile up a ton of kills, but searches for actual combat. Oh and yeah. He knows, just like Andreas, exactly when to rtb and when to stay giving him an insane K/D ratio.

And he is one annoying enemy.  ;D
Somehow he always ends up in the same mech as me or some variant countering mine.
And he seems to like the RAC Bushy just as much as I like it, at least I often see him in one.

Lots of people know when they should be running. I, for one, most often just keep fighting anyway. Walking back to base to repair is way slower than just spawning a new unit :)

I have to second that.  Played a great game with him and Bobby, my team and I managed to fend them off most of the round at the bridge on Inferno.  Think the three of us were definitely at the top of our game that round  :D

Walking back to base to repair doesn't give their team points.

You know the aforementioned people will just get shot at more from now on :D,

We played a game on inferno last saturday and Bobby was on, everyone was just pounding on him whenever he showed his face... classic tall poppy syndrome :D

If you aren't very good, that's true. Depends how many points you could have made in the time it took you to walk back. If it's more than they get for killing you, you're better off dead.

I think there should be a bigger penalty for dying in a mech or as a mech pilot after ejection.
Suggestions:
1) Longer delay time to spawn that would be COMPARABLE with running back to base and running back to battle
2) Each death subtracts a certain amount of ranking points

I like the sounds of this.

Giving the enemy points, no matter how many you got off them, is a waste.

Ive thought about this for a long time and I always keep coming back to the same problem - penalties for death is just going to encourage people to camp at the edges of battle, use longer-ranged weapons, and avoid confrontation as much as possible. It'll be 0.1.x Clearcut all over again - rows of missile mechs perched just outside their base, running away as soon as someone threatens them.

I really want a way to punish the enemy team for being bad pilots, but everything's going to hurt the game pace and encourage even MORE long-ranged bullshit, which we definitely don't need. Not to mention you risk introducing a slippery slope. Generally speaking one team is probably more skilled than the other, and you're going to end up with the new players sitting in CDT forever at the bottom of the scoreboard (and the spawn queue, natch), as well as frustrate others who can't get the proper weight class they need to stay competitive.

If you think the idiotic huddles of cowards hiding behind the hill on Inferno is bad now, wait until you start punishing death more.
