Unix = Mac (which is crap)
Are you fapping shitting me?

Unix is the older than most players of this game. It is the precursor to many great OS that still exist today (Linux, BSDs and many others) and some not-so-great-ones (Mac OS).

Yeah, a very uninformed one. ::)

LOL I posted that to be funny, not start a flamewar

Linux is the open source version of Unix.  Unix was there long before Linux, yes, but today is mostly found only in Apple products, whereas Linux can be found and run on almost anything.

I wonder what would become of Mac OS if Apple reworked it to run on any PC other than their Macs...

Ever heard of a hackintosh? It works on most PC hardware configurations with some finagling. Hell I am currently dual booting OSX and Win7 on my PC. Apple knows that if they made it easy they wouldn't sell hardware anymore. What reason is there to buy a mac other than the extremely easy to use GUI?

Not to put too fine a point on it or anything but I'm pretty sure there's no shortage of retards willing to buy anything with an Apple logo on it.

If people actually cared about how the product performs, the features it has, etc. then iPods would've lost out to Archos a long time ago, and the iPad would have failed like it deserved to.

Those people are brainwashed by Jobs, they are a little more than zombies now. Also this. ;)

From Unix spawned Linux and *BSD. Linux in it's self is only a kernel and by it's self can be considered useless; this is a reason for the many different flavors of Linux. With *BSD the kernel is also compiled with different applications that make up its base OS; this process is done under "one roof". As for the MAC OS that is/was made to run on Intel processors it is a variant of *BSD.

As for "Archos" I have never heard of it till now; see how far marketing can go.

With Apple's Computer hardware, is it over priced, yeah, a little. The quality of the hardware used in there systems is higher then in some other systems. Also if all you compare is the price of a 15" macbook to a 15" laptop then your brainwashed by M$. If you compare the all the specs of a macbook to a laptop you'll end up finding a laptop that comes closer in price to the macbook. It can be like comparing a Honda and a BMW, they both have four wheels, the both get you from point "A" to point "B". If you haven't been in a BMW and noticed the amount of thought that has been put into development of it then you can't understand the comparison. With the potential argument "you don't see 15 year old BMW's on the road" that probably has to do with that if you can afford a BMW you can afford a new one.

Now that this thread has taken a sharp left into the middle of nowhere I guess I'll come back when the new MWLL 0.4 beta is released, then I can start a "give us Linux mod loader" whine in the Crysis forums.

Personally, and this is based on the mods developers themselves stating as much, i would rather see the freely given and limited man-hours on this game put into stabilising the existing platforms and getting updates out more regularly than attempting to expand it across multiple platforms.

Too many cross-platforms games nowadays homogenize their content in order to reach a "bigger audience" at the expense of the product truly shining.

And right now, MWLL is shining on PC so please keep it that way as it is where you'll get the biggest, warmest reception.

Thank you Dev's, artists, animators etc. for your efforts so far!

Well, frankly, I'm a big fan of "cross-platform", e.g. I'm pretty much only using windows for gaming but given the fact Crysis simply isn't developed cross-platform from the ground up, there is nothing that could be done by a mod team alone other than to implement a compatible own engine (and really, with your current man power this should take no less than approx 10+ years), so simply forget that. Also I had to laugh about the suggestion to port to Unigine. You guys often complain about performance, so you should take into account that especially Unigines LOD for terrain and/or water rendering is WAY inferior to the technology used in Crysis. Just imagine the impact of that when it comes to huge terrains, e.g. visible for planes.

And seriously, don't turn this thread into a Linux > MacOS > Unix > Windows discussion.

The Archos Tablets are a fapping joke, the fact you even mentioned them in the same breath as the iPad wow. If you said Playbook or Galaxy tablet you might have sounded like you had a clue about the mobile market. The Archos failed because its terrible and terribly marketed.  not making it in market is not Apple's fault......

Disclaimer, I will not ever purchase a mac computer However....

iPad/iPhone outside of flash (which is slowly getting remedied thanks to Skyfire) are great devices once jailbroken. If you do not jailbreak then they are pointless money sinks but jailbroken.... I won't use any other devices.
