Yes! Precisely! They are extinct cause they couldn't make a proper calendar.

The mech sized railgun is a non-canon weapon made by Mektek. The closest thing to the Mektek railgun is the Light Naval Gauss cannon, which weighs 4,500 tons.

Awww, but there has to be a rail gun in a game like this! How about one like this? It could be said that they were not used or made often because they used a lot of power and required too much maintenance because the rails wore down so fast. They could say it requires lots of heavy capacitors so that any mech that used one would have less armor or be slower then other variants. Then to make sure the player could not carry 5,000 rounds of ammo they could say it requires some kind of batteries that weigh a lot in order to shoot each round. If it were given a charge time it could be harder to shoot then an HGauss and in turn it could have a greater range or damage. It could even be used to make a direct fire version of a long tom, though that would probably be too powerful unless it had a very short range.

Also this looks too awesome to not be a weapon in a game like this!

Though in order for something like this to be implemented the devs would need to be willing to create new lore. I'm not sure if they want to do that or not, if they did they could add all kinds of nonsensical things like an assault mech that has all its weapons mounted in its crotch.

No, serious, the Behemoth of MW4 (+ mekpak) could really carry that monster on that large gun on its head^^
I think this behemoth looks awesome, but its greatest weakness is its slow speed, but the firepower of that gun is awesome

But just imagine the railgun as a super HGauss^^
But if we take it in game, it will have to produce awesome ammounts of heat and you will loose the gun because it is an easy target to LRMs, similar like the big gun of a Hollaender II

But a shot with that into a cockpit of a heavy (maybe also assault) will probably instantly kill the pilot

But it is a extremely bad idea to install on that gun a longtom gun, even more when it is a direct fire variant because skilled players with extremely srong graphic cards will for example start to take down Shivas cross the whole map (so we will need to reduce effective Range to 1,5km, everything else would be too overpowered)

I can't believe people actually want bigger weapons that have potential one-shot capability.  Standard engagements involving medium and heavier mechs are already relatively short.  People always want bigger guns, but they never want to get hit with them.  I don't see anything like the MekTek railgun ever making it into MWLL, as it would be a balance nightmare mountable on less than a handful of 'mechs that aren't even slated to be in the mod.

I can almost guarentee that (short of half of the Dev team going insane) it would NEVER HAPPEN.  So you dont need to worry.
