The thing is that it really doesn't help someone all that much to spend the first 3 minutes of the match in pursuit of this cheat.  Why?  Because it won't increase their rank.  Also because all the other team now has to do is focus on destroying the asset and suddenly those points now go towards the enemy and their ranks.  Plus keep in mind at any time a player could decide to go dedicated BA, thus being able to transfer nearly 100% of starting funds to another player to start with a heavy mech as well.

 I wouldn't say that. Two words: Hellbringer C. With it's twin LBX20s you can own any light mech or vehicle in one or two salvos. Above that, Hellbringer is have too much armour for even a couple of light mechs to chew through fast. And if it finds itself in trouble, it could just retreat easily due to it's superior speed. I know all that because I saw "Hellbringer C spam" first hand(it was bought legitimly but that wasn't really comforting), and even being a good player, I couldn't really counter that in any way. In other words, cbills out of nowhere in the beginning of the game is a serious trouble, and we shouldn't take that exploit lightly.

me and my mates brought down an early hellbringer with 3x BA while he was busy chasing an owens. i agree thats a bit powerfull for a start, but not impossible to take down. 3 heavy lasers do wonders to its armor.

You might consider that not every player is as awesome as you and your 2 friends are. And you might consider that there might be a Loki-jockey out there after 3 minutes of a match who knows what he is doing.  ;)

To say even a noob couldn't rank up with this exploit is not true, because with more firepower[provided your hitting targets] ranking up and cbill gain, is exponentially faster than using anything smaller(weapons-wise) than a Bushwacker.  I use mostly smaller assets on a regular basis, you can destroy folks left and right, but ranking up is slow, and cbills can be hard to come by when having to repair lightly armoured assets often.  Slap on a gun or two and your ranking speed flies through the roof.  The ppl at the top of the scoreboard are usually very skilled with their favoured asset, and most likely, using assault or Clan heavies to get there.

on reply #9 ,  i address this issue also...

on another game 2 days ago... when i pointed out that it would be impossible to buy 3 Madcats within 4 minutes of the game i was told that our team was simply outperformed by them and they are simply superior and so on....
Eventually they left (3 players) with their 3 madcats parked in front of our base. At that point we where 15 minutes in the game and we where killed multiple times in a row.... 3 ullers or whatever 3 light Mechs are no match for 3 organised Madcats....that's for shure.

I think(and hope) that ver 4 will close down this exploit. But untill that moment it is the players choice if he wants to win unfair or not !

Since any player can decide to play a dedicated BA, it theoretically possible for 1/3rd of team to field heavies right off the bat, and the BAs just go in to combat with little regard for their own lives(or even if they play a serious BA role I guess). Its not suicide so its perfectly legal within the rules we all abide by currently.


Unless you somehow can prevent large mech purchases by rank alone you cannot prevent this so long as C-bill sharing is allowed and mechs can be sold.

sorry I added later that a legit/serious BA player could still do this, granted they may not donate quite as much since they may want to purchase at least a MPPC or Heavy Beam laser, but thats still nearly 40K that can be donated from the start even from a BA who plans on living as long as possible.

Very true. I doubt people would feel as upset if there was any actual team-play involved though.
Undoubtedly there would still be players upset, but at least a little less upset I would think.

Hmm... Well a good player vs inexperienced group can do wonders with current system. I find it VERY hard to resist fielding madcatB and trashing any light around from time to time. Been thinking abut that and:

How about this: Add a timer/counter from start of the game, for example 60 min. Say first 5 minutes nobody can buy anyhing but a light asset, no matter the cbills sum he owns or rank thet he/she poseses. Next unlock of assets category (medium) could be in say 10 minutes total time, and so on. This gives devs another variable to balance things out. That way not one player can jump so far ahead both in rank, category and asset weight thus rape weaker/less fortunate without proving that he absolutely dominates specific category. It could be a great benefit no?  :)

So is changing teams by leaving the game and re-entering OK?

If I change teams by using the "Switch Teams" button, I get suicided and my previous team loses points.
