Light mechs could begin to be that 'different kind of mech' if you put them on crack. Make their acceleration and deceleration absolutely ridiculous. At top speed, their turning radius should put a heavy mech's walking speed turn radius to shame.

Make them dance like this Raven!

I would never use anything other than lights if they were that maneuverable(with the exception of the occasional run in a Bushwhacker or a Warhammer). The Owens B and C would become absolutely evil against heavys and assaults if it could turn and accelerate like that. The only real downside  is that in the early game when people are only running lights it would be nigh impossible to hit anyone.
There is no kill like overkill.

However it is quite inferior to other heavies and assaults and it is, in my opinion, quite risky to engage those when using a Hellbringer. I love that mech, no doubt there, but it has a limited purpose.
The Loki curb-stomps most heavies except for the Mad Cat. Vultures have the armor of a medium, Thanatoses (Thanati?) have the firepower of a medium, and Catapults have long ranged guns or weak PPCs.

Thats hit the nail on the head,

If you can't kill any heavy or even assault mech in you Loki something is wrong. It's got unbeleivable firepower and maneuvers like a nimble medium, it's light armour isn't light enough that it'll get two shotted by something. It takes a concerted effort to core one out and in that time it'll be hanging in your blindspot blasting your mech to peices.

This is a bit disingenuous considering that the pilots matter. Especially when the armor is light enough to cockpit kill it with a mauler, atlas, or MKII UAC20 variant.

Maybe I exaggerated a bit regarding the assaults, but in the hands of a good pilot it's more than up to the task.

It's difficult to hit it though, and the loki cockpit is pretty well nestled into it's torso, you're more likely to core it out than cockpit kill it.

Though AC20s I've found seem to have an uncanny ability to cockpit things, especially when fired from the demolisher, maybe it's just the upward angle you shoot at to compensate for shell drop.

Gauss are pretty good for this too.

I'd love to see an Alacorn or Alacorn MK VIII.

Well, that's the reason I dislike the price system we have now. It's like the first 10-15 minutes are 'mandatory fapp off period' where everyone runs around with their heads up their asses. The game only really begins after the initial light rush is over. I really wish we could just skip that part.

You are taking piloting skills into account there, which I didn't cause by the time you do, you leave the territory we can discuss something (an elite player can probably also kill a NCat using a Kit Fox etc...). Here's a test though. Have a Hellbringer charge a Huit from 500m (accelerating then). It will drop dead like 20m from the Huit (which btw can even let its weapons cool down once), that's how thin the armour is. An MRM Pult definitely stands a chance, same as the PPC version. The SRM Mad Dog also can bring it down. As for Thanatoi (here's your plural :P): Those are somewhat out of the question and I point to Vlaad's thread considering them since.

We've played with turning up the lights turn speed before trust me. Its a bad bad thing, you would never use anything heavier because you would never be able to hit them. Assaults would truly be screwed in that case.

Well I see no reason to ever, ever use anything lighter than 45T so...

Even if you wanted to factor in prices - light mechs offend me so much that if I were in a situation where I had to buy lights over and over due to them being cheap, I'd rather just quit the game.

That's understandable. It takes a lot of skill to make good use of a light mech's advantages. They definitely aren't for everyone, especially in pointless random pub games. Try a real match some time and you might have a change of heart, even at your skill level. Lights most certainly have their place.

Your trolling is getting so fapping old.

Hey try this - don't like it? press the X in the corner. Or post another tear-filled whiny ragequit thread like you did about the Novacat.

MY trolling?? Thanks for a good laugh. All you do is come around and complain about game mechanics that are working just fine. It's like you want the devs to cater to your lack of skill, and I almost can't believe you are serious. That you, temphage?

As far as my emo ragequit, that's because the playerbase just can't stop using a unit that's known to cause crashes. Nothing to do with the game itself.
