why do you publish a mod wich cant be played online?
« on: December 05, 2010, 06:42:28 PM »
Hello @ all!
I know this was a very provoking title but i realy need help, and some of you , it seems, can play the mod... me not!
My goal was to play the mod, not crysis, so i purchased crysis/war/warhead and installed crysis....and installed the mod.
actual version: MWLL - 0.3.2 ( 1.1.1.6156)
i tried to play vanilla crysis online: access to all listed server - no problems/ errors
i created a lan-game with the mod: access successful, mec usage etc. np.

I tried to play MWLL online:
Most server show no player on the server"0/24"
Every time i try to join a server, i get "server authentication failed(3)  (game.log entry: "Remote disconnected: Invalid CD Key")
Only on the first day, i could join one server, 4 to 6 player were allready online, i could play without errors until the server was shut down. ( dont remember the name)

I terrorised EA now because of the "invalid CD key" in game.log until i got a brandnew key, i added the key manually to the registry.
*TT* ...nothing changed, all server for the MWLL mod harm me with the same message ""server authentication failed(3)  (game.log entry: "Remote disconnected: Invalid CD Key")

Therefore my resulting thoughts let me ask:
I have a valid CD key...i can play every multiplayer of crysis, i installed and patched all as it should be, once i played the mod on one server without problems....is the source of the problem eventually the coding of the mod?

...why do you publish a mod wich cant be played online, or, why does your mod refuse to accept my valid CD key???

Sorry, but its the only logical question under the described circumstances.

Probably some problem with the shitty GameSpy service. MWLL multiplayer works fine, it's the game it runs on or how you installed MWLL that's your problem. Make sure your Crysis install is up to date with the hotfix installed as well.

In my post above, you can read the games and the mods version and thats the latest downloads/updates/patches from the mwll-site.
And if i joined one server with the mod without any problems, it sounds not logical that gamespy is responsible for the strange response of the others, if i am not wrong.
I made tests to use the mod with completly no active firewall, with forwarded ports, all i could read in other forums, related to the errror-message, no change.
 installed is:
Full Beta       0.3.0
Update beta 0.3.1
Update beta 0.3.2  ( if there are different versions of this updates on the listet download server, i dont know)

one forum even gave the advise to install at last that 0.3.2 zip file after successful install of the 0.3.2 patch !!??!!
i tested it once but the result was error messages right after starting the mwll launcher

MWLL has absolutely nothing to do with Gamespy, the Crysis multiplayer authentication server, or your CD key.

If that really helped it's really hard to blame MWLL for the issues. Maybe an issue with Crysis not working properly with mods under certain conditions? Hard to say .. try killing your installation and start from scratch as mentioned before.

*cough* manny of the vanilla crysis servers are cracked so thats not realy a good indication if his cd key is valid or not.
best way would be to try to host a game, and if it boots you to the main menu after if finishes to load, then its a cd key issue.

@(TLL)-AAA- yes, i can play offline and online on every server without problems.

@(TLL)Xermalk i had this problem with the cd-key of the box and phone-terrorized the EA support until they generated a new key to get me out of the wire ;D... but that changed nothing.
oh, and btw. if i start a lan game with the mod, the mod starts and i can enter, buy a mech, can practise, all without error.

@ Seraph, even i am a german with not very excellent english, you maybe could read that i tried every solution which i could find before joining this community to get help from the expierenced users and dev of the mod. Its not realy blaming, its in fact, just and simple, the only possible conclusion in my situation, from my point of a newby-view. ;D

i deinstalled the mod removed all traces of it from profiles gamefolder and registry...
installed 0.3.0 again
added    0.3.1 patch (source: german mwll link)

then i made a save of the profiles and a save of the mod installation folder
downloaded this file from:
http://www.thelivinglegends.net/index.php?PHPSESSID=2648371dffc2418acad612cbcf71be64&action=downloads;sa=view;down=105
MWLL Open Beta Release 0.3.2 - Patch Package ZIP

description:
"This is the actual 0.3.2 update. The installer only adds the Auto Updater which will download and install this ZIP file. If you are having issues with the auto updater please extract these files to your MWLL directory. Server admins can use this file to install the latest update on the machine."

i used those files  / and replaced the files of the 0.3.1 install. results:
"your MWLL install has modified files, please revert them to their original state to play"      - @ the responsible coder: "VERY FUNNY!"

now i remove the complete mwll folder and profiles and replace it with my 0.3.1 version and use the auto-update install file of version 0.3.2. results:

stay tuned...

I think that zip is supposed to be applied after having used the auto-updater to get it up to 0.3.2.

This has to be something related to crysis. Try one more thing, if you can connect to RUS mwll server, which requires no key authentication, you can be sure its your cdkey and not some issue with the mod. I would then try to look for a crysis registry entry, try googling where crysis stores its cdkey in the registry and deleting everything before you reinstall once again.

If not you can at least play on the RUS server until 0.4.0 comes out and you can move to Wars.

@^sPikE-:
i had removed all and the reg-key was removed too.
when i made a complete reinstall of crysis and mod, i checked thereafter the EA key in the reg and checked the entry, all ok.
i check the RUS server...just a moment

the server which i tried to join a moment ago to have a look at the logfile:

Actually, RUS server checks CD key. I found it out when I had to reinstall windows but was too lazy to reinstall Crysis as well and just runned it from old installation(I forgot to reenter CD key first time).

@Webbird: do you have any antivirus or firewall software running on your PC?
