Darn. The last time I played, when I accidentally clipped into the rock "bridge" just outside the Clan base on Clearcut, I should've obviously just stayed inside and snipe people from there instead of jumpjetting out :P

I was playing on SA_Mirage once and encountered a player who was attacking me in a stationary Raven C. I shot him a couple of times and noticed that it was Raven's RT that gets damage. Raven's torso was facing away from me(I was ~200m away from it at that time so I saw it clearly) but then it fires PPC and at me with Raven's RT still facing me. I continued to shoot it's rear torso and RT armor was decreasing until it was gone and CT started to deteriorate due to transferred damage and raven was destroyed. As I know that such mech behaviour could be achieved in 0.2.0 by switching to 3rd person view and selecting rear-faced camera, I was wondering if that was the case. I also remember encountering rear or side facing mechs from occasionally in 0.3.X so I presume such tricks with external camera could be done even now. Could I be right or it's just a case of client-server desync issue?

This is most likely the issue, I get this problem from time to time and mostly on mirage.
Its usually only 1 mech that this happens to and he/she is mostly only the enemy team.
For me this visual bug/desync only lasts for a few seconds/minutes and not an entire match.

Its not that big of an issue as you can still damage them but it is quite frustrating when sneaking up on that novacat C only to get a face full of erppcs from him when he looks like he is watching something else :-\

Yep, I thought about that too. My only concern was that I was shooting at what I was as a RT and RT was gettign damaged, not the CT. AFAIR hit detection is resolved server-side, so it he was really facing me with his front(which he should do as he was firing at me), I presume his CT should be getting damaged.

Wait what? You mean BT perhaps?
I thought you meant Right Torso which would in my mind make more sense if he was actually facing you (despite your client not showing it). BT dmaged would indicate hit detection is done server side, but hit direction is calculated client side. Sounds very weird O_o

Yes, RT as in Rear Torso, sorry for confusing you. Damaging Raven's back while it was able to shoot at me was my main concern in that case. BTW, Raven's legs was facing forward, so it wasn't the whole model facing in reverse, but a forward facing legs with torso twisted backwards. It's still hard to tell if that was cheating but the case itself it indeed strange.

Doesn't the raven have 360degree torso twist?
of course you should fight fire with fire you should fight everything with fire.

360 torso twist does not mean it has flip arms.
The situation as I have understood it is that Siilk observed the Raven in the following conditions:
1) Legs facing him.
2) Torso facing AWAY from him.
3) Shooting at Torso correctly (in regards to point 2) damages back torso.
4) Raven returning fire at him.

Point 4 makes no sense in regards to point 1-3 and that is the issue Siilk is bringing up as suspicious behaviour.

/Merf - Yes, no, maybe?
