Hmm Zeus,

I can't use it for crap,
almost 2/3rds of my UAC10 shots on target will not register, or register as some sort of pathetic glancing hit barely scratching the paint off an osiris :D.

You really can't do much damage with a single ERLBL, certainly not going to be killing much (unless of course you catch some guy with a black CT or something). I also seem to suck royally with lasers for some reason, sometimes I find the damage doesn't register or ends up all piddly. Maybe my aim is just too wobbly.

And of course the LRM5s are a bit of a joke.

My biggest beef though is with the UAC10, having most of your shots do nothing or miniscule damage to the enemy really frustrates me.

I only like that argument for some light mechs and land vehicles... once we start getting into the heavier mechs its just not really a good excuse.

That said, there are cases where price drop will help ALOT. WH prime comes to mind... old faithful can be yours for only 91k... same price bracket as an awesome? All Thanatoi are cheaper.. you know those state of the art omnimechs that can dance toe to toe with clan heavies...

Even so... if PPC get proper damage WH prime will own even more face than it already does... let alone if pulse lasers get reworked to be more useful then it might be one of my favorites.

Only chassis I really worry about is the Hollander and Osiris, the rest just suffer from under-performing weapons that should be looked at, not because they are not as good as the clan tech versions, but because they are not as good as they should be ala CBT, anything under that and IS tech starts becoming annoyingly bad.

Bushie Prime is an honest to goodness support Mech, and that is the only way i've found it to be effective.  If you support brawlers from decent range, you have a fair chance of surviving or thriving even if your teamates didn't survive the furball.  To say that UAC10 is a brawling weapon is silly, I can hit ppl at max range with it(700m), if they decide to charge just let 'er rip!  Actually, with the way its hit detection seems, that's my rule of thumb for UAC10, the Prime can hold a total of 150 AC 10 rounds, now that's a lot 'o boomboom!  The only thing holding back the Prime is the LRM5s, which could be remedied with a scooch faster reload time, but not enough to bring its DPS too close to LRM10.  AMS takes the majority out anyway.

The biggest problem with AC10 and UAC10 is that even when you are not actually hitting anything it still often shows  an impact or explosion, I just train myself to listen for the hit tone, that way I know its doing its job.

It use to be a lot worse, one less LRM5, and only a an AC10.

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)

You have to keep in mind that you need lag-shooting, i.e. lead a bit to compensate for lag and possibly use ~2 shots to figure out how lead is required. It's still not always easy to hit with AC10 or AC20, especially on mechs with slimmers profiles (e.g. i find Ravens harder to hit depending on their angle to me), but with a bit of training you can definitely increase your hit ratio.

Yes I know about lag shooting, just frustrates me that even lag shooting and getting the hit beep still usually results in little to no damage.

Wow...

I Just got out of the most 1-sided match I've seen so far.  The map was "Clearcut", and I'll not point fingers, but there were plenty of names I recognized from here and they can choose to validate this or not.

As stated earlier in this thread I don't mind being smacked around by an organized team of more skilled players (it really does help build the skills), but this was ridiculous.  When I joined the losing team I found the other team base camping (our base) with a Raven parked on the hill next to the base calling in fire for 2 Shivas, at least 1 Vulture and supported by a Novacat on the one side of the base and an Arrowboat (or 2) and a Longtom with another Novacat and various lights in support on the other.  My counts might be off a little, but you get the idea...our base was locked down, so much that the base defenses were so busy with the Shivas that the other team was able to roll a tank (not sure which one) into the base and start raping pilots in the hanger bay waiting for mechs.

It was very difficult to even get a mech out of the base and if you did it was only a matter of seconds until the missle spam finished you off.  I finally gave up on mechs and went BA so I could avoid detection long enough to get to cover and snipe a few points off of the campers...I played for maybe 15 or 20 minutes before I got tired of the slaughter.  And just to show it wasn't a matter of K/D on my part I left with a 1/3 ratio and in the 70000 cbill range...I just found it to be a waste of time to even bother trying to field another mech just to have it destryed 100 yards from the base by targets I could not reach, and I'm wasn't interested in being dedicated BA for another 20 minutes (I like going BA, but this time, what was the point).

Now could a more skilled and/or organized team gotten things back under control?  Sure, but it was obvious we did not have that team.

Will I keep playing?  Yes.  Will I play on that server again?  Yes, but after this I can't blame anyone for drifting away from MWLL until 0.4.0.

What server was it? Most servers do not allow base raping and admins will step in if it is reported properly.

Lag shooting has been a proposed skill since 0.3.0, but the truth is that there are real hit detection issues.  Lag shooting works only inconsistently.
Thanks for the view.

Well since it was a Clan server and the raping team had a number of Clan members, I don't think reporting it would have done much good...

I did make a few passing comments on the public chat, but didn't get any responce.  Granted they were sarcastic references to base camping, you never know maybe there was a language barrier.  ::)

Clearcut is a fun map, well until it hits 10 or more players then it goes down from there >:(

In that situtation I would have picked a Sulla C and droped some freaking fbombs on that campers heads (start with LT, goes done instantly and rewards a lot of cash and points). Fbombing is a skill I am trying to master atm, but trust me, if you can do it well it is very rewarding and fun.
