Yet people continue to suggest variants based on CBT rules. We should be "close" but not exact per ton.

If i recall correct the fudge factors being referred to were ferro fibrous armor and endo stee internals.

Yes, all true. I was referring more to the 'precise system', though.

20 tons? So. You know the devs do not hold to strict tonnage. The devs are more than willing to fudge weights for the betterment of the variant. Why shouldn't we? If we followed their mindset in our suggestions we find that we can create very interesting loadouts.

I believe they do adhere strictly the their ruleset - it only seems loose to us because we don't know exactly what their rules are. If a certain mech has a particular weight limit, I very much doubt that they would give a perceived weak variant free tonnage to compensate.

x2 RAC2: I like this one.... the only thing holding it back is lack of ammo... get rid of the pointless Mguns and give me 2 free tons and we are off to the races. This thing can beat light mechs in the face early game and not have to worry about getting instagibbed since it has pretty nice armor.

Yeah, its good early game, but it eats ammo so fast it seems like every time I kill a mech with it, I need to run back to base for more ammo. Now if the RAC2 came with a lot more ammo/ton? I'd like it a lot more.

2 free tons for it's MRM launcher would be good, I have to disagree with the RAC2s though. I think they're just are hopeless unless you're literally looking into the other guys cockpit. I guess you're one of the select few that can use those though, because I can't seem to cause any damage with them whatsoever... probably a lag thing though.

Hate the LL version, I just can't stand standing (lol) still and shooting, aiming and hitting accurately with the LLs at full tilt in that vomit wagon is pretty difficult.

What we need is an Uziel Mark II:

-100 tons(in other words, an Uziel with the size and armor as an Atlas)
-2PPCs
-2Guass Rifles
-and a log tom duct taped to each shoulder  ;D

lol jk

Personally i love to use the PPC variant. If you find that you can't "pop-tart" with the guass variant because of the lack of JJ, then you need to "toaster stroodle". Toaster Stroodling means hiding behind a larg object for cover, walk sideways, shoot, then back up behind cover...repeat. Remember: pop-tart when you have JJ but Toaster Stroodle when you don't have jj  ;)

The Uziel only has Large Weapon Pods on the arms, it can't carry Assault Size weapons there. RAC5 is an Assault Size weapon, RAC2 is Large.

Well, as to design philosophy I have a simple maxim......MWLL doesn't have to conform to CBT, but everything MWLL must be explainable in CBT or it's cheesy.  As well as this, anything that moves to far from the stock CBT chassis description (assuming all machines are omnis for MWLL sake) is a mistake in my eyes too (but I don't mind tearing out the JJs, as this is a time and tested refit practice), so engine, internal structure & armour levels are kept to give us the "omni" chassis to build from.....hence 20tons (loosing JJs takes the podspace up to 23tons IIRC).

So while you may have an Uzi that can't fit RAC5s in it's arms due to weapons pod size in MWLL, you can in CBT, as the RAC5 is only 6 crit spaces, and as long as you store the ammo & CASE in the torso you should be fine on space.  And conversely, while you can have ridiculous configs in CBT, all MWLL configs must conform to CBT rules (or they will never work correctly).

So if the Mauler in CBT had to keep it's UAC20s in a torso pod, then the criticals of the UAC20s would be split between the torso & the adjacent arm (in a CBT build of the same machine), and sure. while this conforms with CBT I'd definately call it cheesey(it might be do-able in CBT but it's the thin end of the wedge for realism).  However, if that Mauler fits those UAC20s into the arms (dependant on arm podsize of the Mauler in MWLL) then this is not cheesy, as this is ALSO plausible in CBT (you can build this 'mech in CBT without splitting the UAC20s between 2 locations each), and so we've gone from cheesy to golden if the pod system works IMO....that's the point of the pod system surely....to add restrictions to CBTs free-style uber-builds to create distinct 'mechs?

PS. I think my Uzi with GECM, 6 Medium lasers, MRM30 & 1 ton spare ammo would be fine in MWLL, 3 Medium Beams in each Assault pod, why not, they're 1 ton and 1 critical slot each (4 might max the pod maybe)?  It's a design to maximise the Uzi's brawler potential.

Reminds of something i wanted to do with a MWLL map i tried to make.   It was basically a fjord/harbor layout, but I wanted to put destructible trees up on some cliffsides, so that, a little well placed MG fire would cause them to fall on mechs below.   Too bad the trees don't quite work like that, plus I'm not comp savvy enough for level design with CE2, or I just don't have the patience for learning it.  I thought it was a well layed out and interesting 'map'.

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)
