I will admit that we have been grossly delayed in delivering 0.4.0, but it has not been through any intentional design. The simple fact is the scope of what we wanted to achieve was pretty daunting, especially for a volunteer team that does not always have all member specialities available from week-to-week.
The short answer is: 0.4.0 is a beast of a release.
The post-0.4.0 plan is to work to much shorter sprints and do regular releases (possibly monthly or even bi-weekly) of more condensed content. This is something we want for ourselves as much as for the community because it will give us tighter goals to bind to. Since we now have a very solid and capable team in place they should go much easier. What many of the community don't know is that post 0.3.0 the team had a period of high attrition and we had to spend a lot of time and effort to refill positions. The other consequence of this was that certain development areas had to lay fallow for a while because we didn't have anyone to really work on them. Thankfully that is all behind us now and we are closing in on 0.4.0 in earnest AND have good plans for the future.
I know i am quite new on here, but i have to ask for a little more post like this one. I am not suffering from version fatigue like most of the vets are, but i can say this from having worked on a couple of mods in the past. Being totally upfront with any problems you've run into with version releases is only going to enamour your audience to you more.
I am in no way trying to attack your guys processes, just trying to give a little bit of friendly advice is all.
I'd also like to take the chance to thank all of the developers for your continued hard work, considering the workload you've all taken on for little more than praise, love of the concept and the Everest complex (because it's there dude!). It's really refreshing to see a dedicated team releasing genuinely excellent work.
