Dont know if any of you guys are into it, but the complete source code (minus multiplayer and copy protection stuff.. thanx microsoft ;P ) has been released for MechCommander 2, it was refactored to use Microsoft's XNA stuff, but otherwise builds and runs as the complete single player game - was released a fair few years ago now(2005-2006 i think), but is still available to tinker with.
 
About 800mb or so download size, with the instructions & requirements to get it building :)

I actually wish that MWLL was more like Mech Commander 2
