I was playing on Thunder rift today, and the game was about 3 minutes from finishing.

Just for fun, I decided to take a Bushy Prime (I heard it was really bad)

Both teams are charging the bridge for their last chance to get at the enemy before the game ends, and I get there near the end of the battle.
Two assaults are just finishing their brawl beside me, but besides that the bridge is empty. Suddenly, I see a heavy appear on my radar. "Perfect!" I think, the heavy comes over the ridge, and I see that it's a fresh new MadCat. "Great, time for me to die" goes through my mind, and clearly the MadCat pilot is thinking the same, because he parks his mech in front of me, confident that he can kill me without any evasive maneuvers whatsoever.

After about 8 seconds of us two standing perfectly still, firing at each other, I come out with a kill and an orange CT

Think it was prime at 80 meters

Its LRMs couldn't fire, but neither could mine, so I guess it was about as fair as it could get with weapon percentage being used (considering all I had was UAC10 and a single ERLBL )

At one point, his CT was dark red, and my gun jammed 
Luckily, he started running away and turned around just as it unjammed, so he basically lost 3 seconds of free fire on me

when you say "on paper", do you mean according to weapon/armor stats, or what usually happens, because ACs seem to have trouble registering on latterally moving targets (you have to make the shot pass a little in front of him instead of hit) so him stopping may have been the reason for my victory

I think he means both...even without the LRMs coming into play, the Mad Cat Prime still has 2 CERLBL, 2 CERMBL, and 2 CMPL, which is more than triple the firepower of a Bushy prime.  So either you're an excellent pilot, or he's a horrible shot.

I can believe it, actually. The Madcat only has 22% more CT armor than the Bushwacker, and surprisingly poor DPS at close range as it can fire the CERLBLs only intermittently without dumping coolant. The UAC10 does very good damage with consistent hits, which is what you got with a stationary target. AC10s also cause a bit of screenshake, and the constant slight rocking from your UAC10 may have been enough to cause his pinpoint laser damage to spread from your Bushie's very narrow CT into the side torsos.

yeah, both sides were yellow, so he probably lost a decent amount of damage from that.

Note to self: when using auto cannons, ask the target to stand still

I have to admit to having a fetish for the Whammy B, as well.  It's only real weak point is not it minimal weapon loadout, those two AC10s in chainfire is like a new and improved UAC10(Devs!!!plz don't give it UACs).  Anyways its main weak point is armor, but if you run passive all the time (Marshes is great for this mech) you can be quite effective while attracting little attention.  It's FTW awesomeness is that it is a dirt cheap heavy that everyone, and I mean everyone, underestimates.  I love when a slightly damaged MadCat pilot spots me alone and thinks, ahh WTHeck, one more stravag and I'll RTB. 

Shit, one time I ran outta our base on Marshes only to find a Mauler C not far from our base.  He couldn't get too close, due to turretrape, so I just used this and a little backpedaling/cover mngt to whittle him down.  I had to RTB, right around the corner, but I know for a fact he didn't make it back to base.

Yeah that was my line of thinking, but then I rarely seen the Timberwolf Prime on the field (and i sure as heck don't pilot it often), so I don't remember it's heat curve that well.  That aside, as long as he didn't try to run up on you and then stand still, the TW should have been able to pick you apart.

I play it often. Heat curve isn't a problem as long as you don't fight against CERPPC Novacat. This baby can overheat Prime to critical level in seconds if pilot know when to fire the PPCs.
