Mechwarrior Living Legends 0.4.X Feedback thread
« on: December 29, 2010, 04:42:46 PM »
Guys, I thought it might be a good idea to make a general feedback thread for the new 0.4 version of MWLL. I have seen many specific questions and stuff but a general thread might be good to keep the overview, right? (And I didn't want to use the party thread)
So here it is:
Post your impressions, comments and overall feedback. What new features do you like most? How is the balancing working for you guys etc.
Hope there will be a nice discussion going on.

Personally:
Developers, your BA HUD is great. One really feels like being stuck in a helmet and it feels very "technic". Great thing.
Also the performance (I now play on Wars) seems significantly better (on low) than it did before. Thanks for that.
Too bad I didn't have the chance to play the new modes, as there were no crowded servers for that yet.

UncleThomy, did you do battle in a BA?  Run around a server, there is a lot of hidden fluff in the BA HUD.  I as well DEVs have to say awesome BA HUD, exactly what I've been wanting!

TC Kag and Death Valley are amazing! Your screenshots pale in comparison to seeing the map in person.  Kagoshima or what not was wonderful, I had a good laugh the first time i accidently ran my harrasser into a pine tree and in broke apart, great fluff on the bark flying everywhere!

OHH Damnit DEVs ALL I can say I am VERY frighten to what release will be like...  Smith and Tinker might as well cancel their project, you guys have them beat.  Fan-freaking-tastick!

Death Valley's expanse is great, it is open enough to feel like your on a moon, but there is enough cover to provide a good game play.

Going to stop here... lol

You took something amazing, and made it even better... as I said, i am scared what release will be like... godly MW game!

I played and I liked it and then came TC Marshes. No sound and broken map (I could not see anything on the map and my position was always in the bottom right corner, just like the "position" of the base. :( (4.1)

clear your shaders cache and try to reconnect, sometimes your client can desync

Thats an inherited issue from Crysis. Simply suicide and respawn, or if that doesn't work, reconnecting to the server fixes that. Afaik it doesn't have anything t do with the shaders.

That is always good. It will at least limit other issues :D

I would like to play but none of the downloads are... downloading.....

They just stay at "starting..." forever.

Any ideas? Or alternatively if there's a torrent up somewhere those usually do the trick too.

Could be Firewall issues? Check wether your Firewall blocks the updater connections.

If you can't figure it out, you could try to grab the torrent manually - it resides e.g. for the 0.4.0 here: Mods\mwll\Updates\MWLL.0.0.0-to-0.4.0

Success!

I thought my windows firewall was disabled, but it turns out there it has some sort of secondary firewall function not unlike a Xenomorph's second set of extendable jaws, with my .4.0 download being as a frightened space marine.

You have my thanks.

UncleThomy, did you do battle in a BA?  Run around a server, there is a lot of hidden fluff in the BA HUD.  I as well DEVs have to say awesome BA HUD, exactly what I've been wanting!

I played BA and
wow.
This is simply AAA quality. The HUD is amazing. If there is someone reading this who never plays BA - try it out. When you get hit and there is a red distorted "danger" all over the place and maybe some scratches appear on the screen - that really let's you get a feeling for the figure you are playing. Simply great. If this is the future also for mech cockpits... what a dream that would be.

Also, surely has to do something with optimization, maybe with wars, but MWLL actually never ran smooth on my system. Until now. Well at least on Sandblasted and Marches (on low) but as we all know these 2 and mirage are the best maps, so I don't cry too much that kagashima lags like hell.
Haven't played for quite some time but this update really gets me back again. Thank you very much!

i'll declare the mod at 0.4.1 to be a piece of art.
which i suck at.
'any kind of discussion of randomness ALWAYS WILL EQUATE to being able to critically hit a mech's reactor by firing a micro beam laser while facing 80 degrees to the side, shooting the ground, which would cause a random explosion which would randomly crit his entire team's reactors which would randomly cause the server itself to explode which would randomly generate a strange quark which would randomly hit the earth and randomly randomness randomfapp the shit fapp random!'

Deathvalley is a beaut, I am still trying to get back up to speed with mouse and keyboard still not bad at tossing missles from range hehehe killed one and did some serious damage until server crashed sigh but have more time in the saddle needed to knock the rust off. I have my pc running in 64bit, at max settings, no surges burps ect wow what great graphics! Looking forward to next update, yea I know I am a Thorn after all! LOL ;D
