I actually rather like the Deimos, I once had a config with ~6UAC2s I think, or something equally ridiculous, that was a blast (Super-MG FTW!). Also Fafnir, except for the terrible maneuverability, and the Scat. Warhawk, Supernova and Marauder for looks ^_^

TimberWolf hands down

the ultimate versatile fighter
the only mech that comes close to it is the summoner with its JJ

but the timby is my fav mech of all time
and nothing will ever change that

For my first post of all time...

Why need speed when you can throw the kitchen sink at them in your nice shiny Jupiter?

Well, my favorite was the nova cat... it had a couple of defects but i played MW for YEARS and i found myself always using a MadCat(Timberwolf) a NovaCat(Rifleman) or a Daishi(DireWolf)...  The madcat packed less ER lasers then the Nova cat but had LRM's in addition. The Daishi was just a big, slow cube of ROCK but i found it to be quite weak actually, skilled players only needed 3 shots to take a Daishi down, because of it's HUGE 'nose' it was easy to hit the center torso 3 times in a row, in 90% of the cases that was enough to take it down.... still, the daishi could carry a big variety of weps like 2 big gauss', ER lasers, LRM's, the whole deal...

The nova cat was agile, very powerfull because of it's 7(!) ER Lasers... like i said before, the arms were easy to shoot off which made it a bad clanfight-mech (because the opponent stipped u and left u for useless the rest of the game) but for a skilled player it was a very powerfull mech!.... you needed some skill tho because it felt like you had only one weapon, 7 lasers ... BAM! all at the same time... you needed to make sure every shot counts and went exacty where you wanted it to hit your opponent.. To that, i think the nova cat is the most impressive looking mech with its HUGE 5 barrels, it's broad shoulders, enormous arms and it's "Cylon" looking head...

Nova Cat 1st
Mad Cat 1,5st
Daishi 3rd

Sniping:
The Shadow Cat -
Fast, Agile, Deadly.
Equip it with a guass rifle and it is the perfect sniping mech, its speed keeps it out of trouble.

Brawler:
Daishi -
Just remove all its speed and stack up the armour, it will pound its way through anything.

Mentalism:
Osiris -
Give it two artillery beacons and rack up its speed, it can be surprisingly effective, espicially with its radar off and and IFF jammer.

Hehe nice Wiseag... i actually like the shadow cat a LOT too but in the game it didnt pack enough punch to really compete on a 'points' level... all the madcats, daishi's, nova's and other big mechs just went head on destroying multiple mechs... you stayed alive with the small shadow cat but you needed a lot of time taking out a single target, very very good mech tho!

Medium: Bushwacker

A old favorite from Mechwarrior 3. I'm not sure what it is specifically, but there is something about the Bushwacker that always makes it my first choice whenever I need a medium mech.

Heavy: Vulture/Mad Dog

It has plenty of missiles for long range combat, a set of pulsed lasers for when you run out of missiles, enough armor to stay alive, and it's fast enough run away from that Atlas or DireWolf/Daishi that is trying to flatten you. Also, it just looks cool. I hardly ever customize or modify it much at all because it's just fine the way it is.

As I said in the other thread... favourite mech has to be the Victor.... (especially when giving it clan weaps) and a close second being the Highlander... loved both for being able to DFA smaller mechs. But for me the victor won in looks and style...

as for other weight classes...

Light - Woldhound
Med - Centurion
Heavy - Summoner

catapult [MW4]

4 Clan Cstrk6
3 CERLL
Max (Reflective - silly novacats)Armour on "Ears and Torso's"
Half on Legs
JJ's and about 60kph

It was astonishing how much punishment it could hand out up close, and the three CERLL, gave you some knock around protection

I too think the Night Gyr the best, 38 tons of free pod space, plus most of the varents could handle an atlas on a 1vs1.

As for the catapult, you'd fry yourself if we were playing stricktly by CBT rules, clan weapons have a way of overdrawing power from IS engines, even the newer ones. 8)
