For me, it would be the Ebon Jaguar.  Quick, low profile, versatile...like a Hellbringer, but substituting armor for electronics.

Preta. Normally I laugh at mechs with melee equipment, but the sheer coolness of the Preta makes up for it.

Besides, it's a retractable blade in the arm, not an actual sword or some lame crap like that.

And tell me: Is it not the best looking mech of all time as well?

I guess my main grief with melée mechs is it reminds me too much of transformers...now don't get me wrong I love me some transformers but I mean they WERE the giant robot not a pilot controlling one...idk I just think it's too close, I like thinking of mechs as giant war machines being piloted by elite warriors, key word machines, not super articulate living toasters...and if melée combat isn't super articulate then I'd imagine it would be like go go action G.I. Joe....which isn't appealing either.

Melee combat was key in CBT before 3050 because mechs would often times run completely dry of ammunition, lose heat sinks, have weapons blown off, engine damage, etc and the only recourse to retreating was to head into Close Combat and kick the enemy's leg off or try to club him over the head with an uprooted oak tree. This is the kind of knock-down drag-out fights that 3025 CBT was famous for. Then came Tech 2 equipment and everything glorious about battletech disintegrated under a hailstorm of Gauss slugs and double heat sink supported ERPPCs.

<...> into Close Combat and kick the enemy's leg off <...>

Come back and I'll BITE your LEG off!

========================================================

Arthus: "You have no arms left! What are you going to do? BLEED on me?"
Black Knight: "Have at ye!" *Hobbles forward on one leg and bumps into Arthur who promptly cuts the Black Knights remaining leg off*

Doesn't the above (The text, not the image) kinda remind you of one of those arm-less kitfoxes from the early game skirmishes?

Or if one of those pesky hard to hit light mechs tried to run up and shoot you in the back with their short ranged weaponry a successful kick from a heavy would remove a leg in one shot. Only reason to field a Charger in my opinion :)

this shall take years of consideration for me  :P
People are stupid if they think they can have their own way.

... that is, unless they have HEAP rounds, high-explosive homing missiles, and terawatt lasers on a walking weapons platform, that is...

Bushwacker. Adaptible, capable at all ranges, a nasty brawler, almost better at ranging, fast enough for me, tough (for its class), realistic looking, low profile and all in all just awesome.

Does 30 days pause make this a dead thread?

30 days? The last post was over 1 year ago  :P

Necro aside, my favorite mech of all time would be the PTR-6T Penetrator.
A ER large laser in each arm, 3 ER medium lasers in each side torso, enough double heat sinks to keep firing with most weapons each turn, lots of armor, a AMS and jump jets. The only disadvantage is the low speed, but aside from that this thing is walking awesomeness. And its lyran tech  ;D

Favorite MWLL mech of all time is the good old Thanny C, I just love the mix of weapons, armor and speed.
In Lyran Commonwealth, Atlas scouts you.

(6:38:14 PM) haarp: Ilmatyynyalukseni on täynnä ankeriaita
(6:38:29 PM) eRkkituo: what.
(6:38:46 PM) eRkkituo: why is your hovercraft full of eels?
(6:38:56 PM) haarp: i thought you could tell me

Well when I wake in the morning and I step outside, I take a deep breath and I get real high and IIIIIIIIIII

Gonna have to go with the Cauldron Born. Low profile and very adaptable. Been falling in love with the Puma for the same reasons.

Some serious thread necromancy is going on here. Break out the holy water and find a Cleric or Paladin.
