a plea to all dedicated servers out there!
« on: December 31, 2010, 02:42:07 PM »
first, maybe its my own problem, but I can only see 1-2 servers in my list, along with test servers with passwords.. but the status says that there are allot of servers out and over 40 players on most of the time. where are they?

now to the second thing:

all servers (atleast the ones I can see) now play only TC. this saddens me, as after playing the modus for the last 2 days, I grow tired of running back and forth bases and getting toasted by the automated defenses.
I wish me a great variety of servers playing different game modes 24/7, so that the TC players can play it, and people like me who like solaris arena more can play our gamemode.

I know CT is new and shiny and everybody loves it (I kinda like it too, but it gets tiring running... etc) but there are some flaws, which will be fixed (probably) in the future, but till then, I'd like the server hosters to give us an alternative.

because solaris arena promotes heavies. and the whole map is a battlefield. and I miss the Egypt map...

Are you on vanilla Crysis by any chance? I think most servers were upgraded to Crysis Wars (most players went to Wars too) and you can't play on those with vanilla Crysis.

There are also still TSA servers around, at least on Wars.

what kind of... no, I won't go there.    :(

I just can't imagine the mess or... how the hell can people BREAK CDs? they're in the drive, or they're in the box in the shelf. nowhere else.
breaking CDs is just... I can't understand how anybody safe pre 10 year olds can break CDs.

well, ok, I broke a expansion CD for battlefield 1942 once... because it just wouldn't get out of that "holder" in the box or however you call it.

I just can't imagine the mess or... how the hell can people BREAK CDs?

I was present when this happened:

A friend of mine bought a new game (don't ask, I don't remember which), took it out of the box, popped it in his DVD-drive on his Computer...
The noise still haunts me:  There was the sound of plastic grinding against metal for about 3 seconds (which seemed like three minutes), then the disc came shooting out of the drive, rebounded off a wall or two, smashed the glasses on the kitchen table (which was the next room) then finally shattered when it hit the next wall and fell to the ground.

That was also the ONLY time I felt like needing a cigarette to calm my nerves... and I don't smoke at all.

My friend did the only plausible thing: he destroyed the drive (Yay for black powder :D) to not risk ANY of his other discs suffering the same fate...
(but before he testet it with some random disc out of a magazine and it sounded weird, but didn't do anything funny)

My MW3 disc exploded in my old cd drive. I was in the middle of the mission and all the sudden it sounded like a bomb went off in my case and the game froze. I shut everything down and tried to pull out the cd rom but was having a really hard time. Turns out the force of the cd exploding in the drive expanded the sides of the cd rom and locked it in place. Took me half hour to get it out....

Part of why I use Steam, no disks to be lost or broken, as well as no time spent loading and unloading them from the drive. (Crysis was the last game I got on disk, it wasn't on Steam when it first released...)

(The other part is all of the other things it does)

Also these forums need multi-quoting.

how can it explode anyhow? theres no explosive combustive stuff in a Cd drive!
maybe the awesome of Mechwarrior empowered the laser scanner?

By spinning too fast and the disc warps or shatters.
