Lets use this space to discuss ALL the new goodies we got and what your thoughts are about them. Ive been looking for feedback on the new lazers since I havent had enough in game experience  and the only thing Ive seen mentioned is the awesome... awesome sound they make when fired.
So ladies n gents.. lets hear it.

Morrigu = Rape machine, holy shit. It kills all ground assets very quickly, but it's kind of helpless against air and competent BA players. It has hilarious handling, especially when going downhill; High center of gravity + big turret on the rear of the tank = fishtailing when going downhill.

Hephaestus = Good scout with good armor, but it lacks the Harasser's sheer speed and firepower. More suited for support (AECM variant is pure support, it only has 3 small lasers)

Thor = Fun mech to use, but it's kind of feeble at defending itself. The low max/minimum torso elevation really hurts it; enemy mechs can hug up against it and the Thor pilot can't see them; or shoot back.

X-pulses = Fun to use but they're really really terrible if you get low FPS, like me. Easier to use than regular Pulse lasers though.

ATMs = Kills anything without LAMS very quickly, but LAMS make them basically slightly more dangerous than SSRMs. The minimum range keeps it from being too overpowered but the hard cutoff is pretty annoying; 160 meters it's extremely deadly but at 150m they're totally harmless

Heavy Lasers = Pretty overpowered IMO. They make more heat but Clan assets usually have like 2-4x more heatsinks than most I.S. assets due to their DHS. Their range is equal to regular I.S. Pulse Lasers, but they do ridiculously insane amounts of damage. The Puma that boats heavy lasers can leg a mech in two or three alphas.

Morrigu (official dCK nick = The Frotress) is awesome. It is high priced for a reason. Apriori used on next to another and due to their 4 lams not a single missile would hit them.

Hepheastus = Looks good on paper and can take some punishment, haven't used it yet though.

Summoner: Interesting set up, but as I predicted a bit weak on firepower. Still a nice chassis to compliment the Hellbringer.

X-Pulses: Nasty, the Mauler D is a pretty dangerous machine. And they are gorgeus for BA hunting.

ATMs: I adore those things. The Timby E (official dCK nick = Rapecat) fires 24 of those into a Uller, fires one of its CERPPCs and the thing is gone. Great weapon vs. Hawkmoths too. Maybe they should not follow Narc for balancing reasons (my first impression was that they were OP), but apart from that a great all purpose weapon.

HBLs: Another great (and nasty) weapons against aeros. Used them in the MKII D against Sullas and killed a LOT of them. Bring those 2 gausses to bear as well and you got that hot shot. They are also great for mowing down bas, yet heat is an issue on some maps and one has to be aware of their range.

I am still forming my opinion on the new assets, but for the ATMs, has anyone else noticed that the LAMS don't take down more than two or three missiles if the ATMs are fired 300 meters or less from the target?

I tore a bushwhacker to pieces with the Puma E last night by using a little cover and simply overwhelming the LAMS.

Haha had no idea wtf the ATM's were until i got in the uller with them and squealed in joy as they boiled from my shoulders like angry bees to smite another mech. I found that the heavy lasers took some getting used to as you need to keep the mech in the beam for longer which is fairly hard. The X-pulses are now on my new favorite starting mech the raven E! dear god PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW! MRM20s TO THE FACE!

I just wish i could actually get goddamn money to buy some of the better stuff but i'm not a faggot who spends the entire game 600m away from the nearest enemy. Real men go into battle with a mech and walk home with tales of glory.

X-Pulse Lasers are something like the fully automatic pulse lasers suggested way back.  You just hold down the trigger, and they fire about once a second.   Not quite where I wanted them, but I TOLD YOU THEY WOULD KICK ASS!

THANKS for the Hephaestus it's in my opinion the best anything in the game.
That and x-pulse lasers those are what pulse lasers should of been so that the Hephaestus could have them. ;)

Xpulses seemed weak to me.

Thor lacked in firepower.

ATMs did not experience.


I'm a simple man... CLBX20 and C/UAC20s. If those don't solve my problems, then anything else wont either. :D

Eh, that's not how normal pulse lasers work here.  Have you ever seen one?  It functions just like a beam laser except less effectively.

ATMs and Heavy lasers are Clan so you wouldn't see them on inner sphere tanks.
