Thread fail. Atlas has almost double the armor of a Demolisher, and you can hit the Demo's weak spot from EVERY side.

That's ignoring other things like maneuverability and weapons loadout, too.

Tanks need a buff if anything.

Try rereading, this is about the Morrigu not the Demo.

hnn the Morrigu should be nicknamed the Flipagu ???

Oh, I'm sorry, I thought the OP was whining about the Demo too. OK, so the Atlas only has about 50% more armor than the Morrigu, damn, you're right, that's way OP super jesus tank.

The Demo and Morrigu have comparable armor, particularly on the turret (its basically the same) ... did you even read my post?

Nah, Demo has a bit less armor, but anyway, yes, I read your post, and I think it's flat out wrong. Tanks are still much less survivable than mechs, and they have other drawbacks besides that major one.

edit: Oh yeah, Warhammer has more armor than both.

And I think you are flat out wrong. :P

Any time I wanna stomp I just get in a tank and roll every mech I see, with more expensive mechs it is never that easy. Sure BA can be scary to them, but they can be scary to a lone Assault mech as well. And I seriously cant think of the last time I got killed in a demo by an aero.

Also.. so what if the atlas has "more armor" it only has "more armor" because it has more to shoot at as has been said. While the things people actually shoot at, like turret and CT.. arent comparable at all.

Further, most of these tanks have disgustingly overblown armor values in MWLL compared to CBT, its a good idea, but it needs to be toned down a bit.

The Morrigu handles very-very poorly on maps with sloping hills. You slip and slide all over the place.

This ain't CBT. If it was, you could buy about 5 Demolishers for the price of an Atlas, or 4 Morrigus for the price of a Nova Cat.

There's also more factors than just straight armor values. Despite their drawbacks, tanks are now viable, and that's a good thing. The 'MECHWARRIOR NOT TANKWARRIOR!' kids don't like it, but I don't like them either, so it all balances out.

I wouldn't object to a higher Demolisher pricetag. That tank has always been pretty much the best in the game. No matter what happened in 0.3.X, you NEVER saw any Oros or non-Prime partisans, but you saw plenty of Demolishers.

Regarding the armour though - they need it.

Tanks are fine.

+Karma ;)

Maybe I'm mistaken, but the whole POINT of tanks (in CBT) is to be Chunks of armor on Tracks, with some amount of firepower duct-taped to it...
Also if I'm not mistaken one Armor Asset in MW:LL equals 2-5 Armor Assets in CBT {just like with BA [and ASF? (yay brackets rule :D)]}, so I'm not surprised they got a lot more armor than they did in CBT...

TBH if anything Morrigu feels weaker then the Demo. It may have a bit more firepower, or at least range but it has several large problems.

The Morrigu feels like a larger target, easier to hit.
It maneuvers poorly.
The turret turns painfully slow.

Right now the demo turret turns just fast enough to track a circle strafing medium, but the morrigu would probably have trouble keeping a heavy in it's sights at close range. If a light gets up close to your morrigu and you don't have any cover, they can kill you easily by just staying away from the turret.

Also why does the morrigu turret turn slower when zoomed it? it doesn't make much sense that the turret would slow down that much just by looking through some optics. Makes it painful to aim at anything with a decent zoom level unless they aren't really moving.

In CBT tanks generally had far more armor points per location than mechs of even double their weight. This was because they a.) had only 4-5 locations to armor instead of 11 like a mech, and b.) they had no limit to the amount of armor they could mount unlike mechs.

The balancing point, however, was that tanks had far more chances to suffer criticals through armor than battlemechs. A single LRM could hit the vehicle's fuel store and destroy it.
