Map Editor

How do you start the editor?

I've seen many people talk about it but don't know how to open it.
Do you download it? If you do, will MWLL still let you play despite modified files?

If you want to use the editor with the Wars build, your easiest bet is to download the Crysis Wars Tools, which includes the Wars version of the editor, its new and improved when compared with the vanilla crysis sandbox2.

It can be found as part of the CrysisWars_ModSDK download. The wars sdk can be downloaded from crymod here :

Does that work for Steam?

Maybe this will help? It looks like it has specific instructions for Steam down lower there.

The installer with "tools" in its name is the one you will want, the other 2 are just source code, one for a base SinglePlayer mod and the other for a base MP mod.

The exact name is - "CrysisWars_ModSDK_Tools_v1.1.exe". This installer contains the Wars sandbox editor, the 3DMax exporter tools, photoshop crytif exporter tools and various scripts, settings managers and misc tools. It "should" automatically detect installation locations for things like max or photoshop and put everything in it's correct place.

I dont use the steam version myself, but according to crymod, you need to run the installer from inside the "/Steam/steamapps/common/crysis wars/" folder, copying it there before running it(or /crysis/ for vanilla editor) and then NOT change the install location it wants to put it in(crymod instructions, sounds strange to me), even if it seems weird or out of place. If the install location is changed from where the installer wants to put things, the editor will not run.

Perhaps, in order to encourage map production for the Mod, could not one of the developers put together a short (or detailed) listing of steps used to start, create and verify a new map? Simply take the experience of putting together, say, Death Valley, which does not have water or vegetation, and detail the effort. This should, one hopes, serve to prepare us for making something ultimately worthwhile.

First and foremost, however, is what are the correct set of tools necessary to create a map. The two downloads and the info to create in the steam dir (is that correct) are all well and good, but, is that ALL that is necessary and how about a MW:LL map creation specific tutorial?

is the following sufficient to get one building maps? Anybody have different instructions/guidelines for Crysis Wars? Is there any difference? build in 64-bit or 32-bit or is there no difference when building a map?

The following tells me little other than I DEFINITELY need the first download. Don't we need the source code for multiplayer? Why or why not?

yeah, I opened it up and thought "WTF? a big white square! What do I do?"

If anyone is willing to give some quick starting tips (changing terrain, terrain textures/"paint", etc...), I'd be very thankful ;D
