Okay look.  More than once now people have without having any understanding of the circumstances made inappropriate comments in respect to our jobs.  And that is why I made the attack on CHHš Siege.  If you read all the comments, you'll see I'm not a hypocrite, just dealing shit where shit was dealt.

Everyone here should be excited to have more players coming in to play this game but CLEARLY there is a large percentage of you that just want to be critics and keep the game to your elitist selves.

IT is a general term that was used by Epicus to indicate that we are VERY familiar to computers, and gaming.  All of us have wrestled with installing different games over the years.  As I said to Siege, I'm not gonna sit here and explain to you what I do for a living or act like I'm better than you.  The simple truth is:  We collectively spent over 32 man-hours getting this game installed between the four of us.

What did we do in 32 man-hours?  I explained this in detail in my previous post.  If you skipped over that part, you might wanna reconsider making comments about our hirability when you have a lack of attention to detail.  Not to mention the section is outlined below a header that says: "What happened".

So to fill in the blanks for you: (At the time this thread was started, there was very little about dealing with the CD key issue, or a guide explaining the best course of action.)
Each person after me: $Purchased the game.  Spent hours downloading while helping the previous person get it working.  Would painstakingly make sure to install the games in order and make sure they worked on their own.  (Each person had a DIFFERENT experience and level of difficulty to solve the issue.) Then made REPEATED chat/phone calls which to get CD keys from EA.  Each call was like swimming through goo since the EA person on the chat either didn't care about what was going on, or had no clue what we were talking about.  And of course some of the expected steps before they would offer us a CD key was to reinstall the game, and when doing that through steam, you have to download the entire game again!
The real time killer was with Epicus.  HE COULD NOT get the game to work no matter what.  No matter what we tried (reinstalling multiple times, countless registry edits) the CD key would always reset back to the old one.  I believe eventually he installed from an ISO of the game and was able to hack the registry to allow his legitimate CD key to work.  We avoided Steam after that, but the CD key issue still happened to the next person.

So to all of you (like me) who didn't have CD key issues ... congratulations, I guess that makes you a better person.  I guess that makes you smarter than the other people who were unfortunate to have these issues.

Ultimately the point of all this is: MWLL is at point where it's very playable, and we could bring even more people in, but while these issues exist it is very discouraging to try to explain to others (that may not be as computer literate) how to make it work.  Hence: "MWLL is awesome but doomed." is an 'at this moment' statement that if the CD key issue isn't clearly explained right away to people, it potentially kill any desire to play the game in the future.

Let me finish by saying.  I really appreciate the people on here who actually care, are concerned, and make constructive comments.  The people who get off at other peoples demise need to really check themselves.

You should have really taken down the names of the EA representatives you talked to because when I called EA due to my Steam version of Crysis Wars having an invalid key it took all of 10 minutes to get a new key. I was on hold for about 7 minutes, then got a hold of someone, told them my email, and then they immediately emailed me a new key, no questions asked. They did not even ask for proof of owning Wars. As soon as I said it was a Steam version with an invalid key, the rep put me on hold for about 30 seconds then came back and said to expect an email with a new key in 2-3 minutes. I did the registry edit and was fine. Overall, took me about 20 minutes once I had downloaded the game.

Yeah.  That happened to us once.  It was when we first realized the CD key issue.  Everything went reasonably well.
We expected it to be easy after that.  It wasn't.  Also what made it difficult is that Crysis Wars would play just fine.  It was when trying to join a MWLL server that it would crap out.

Ok, i think we've had enough discussion about this, and i dont feel like giving it the chance to devolve any further.
