Plus the missiles appear to blow up in your face rocking you around but doing no damage (to you).

I'm finding MRMs quite difficult to use now too, the min range is god to know, I always wondered why my point blank salvos seemed to do absolultely nothing. I just hope the 'tard' missle bug is eliminated, because it does reduce it's firepower quite substantially.

Also has the tracking speed for the missiles been reduced?, seems a bit harder to keep them on moving targets.

I haven't found any real difference in how I use MRMs, nor added difficulty in use.  Their flight mechanics are the same, just use them for medium range...which. is what. they're. designed. for.......Besides, they're mostly setup on medium range loadouts with other weapons like AC 10s (like on the warhammer) anyway, so their long range is similar or the same.

Once the random twitchiness of the MRMs are fixed and they can track the crosshair properly, they will be beastly again. Even right now if used against a non-moving or moving toward you target, they rape face. In two salvos from the raven will put an owens in the red.

I love using MRMs, and don't mind the range nerfs.
They are MEDIUM range missiles.

2-6 missiles veer off to the right when you fire them.
This is a known issue and will be fixed in due time (hopefully today).

So I cut their range to 650m, gave them bad damage, gave them a minimum range, and made 20% of the salvo peel off to the right for some reason. But dun' worry dawg, 'sall good, I gave clan the old MRMs but with lock on and uber speed.

The entire Inner Sphere is now sad panda.  :'(

Sort of a joke thread but I would like people's opinions on new MRMs.  :)

Yes, it's called a BETA for a reason.
 
Also, the "minimum range" you speak of is all of 20m, if you are actually encountering this as a limitation in your ability to play the game then I can only slowly shake my head at you in sadness.
 
Also, the 650m maximum does reflect the MEDIUM Range Missile nature of the asset more accurately than the old 800m setting which I consider "Long".
 
Don't forget that MRM are not nearly as succeptible to AMS damage and they can actually be self-guided by the player which is useful in many situations.

Only 20m? Bizarre, I've been getting almost zero damage at around 80-100m then full damage at around 120m much of the time.

I supported and suggested the 650m range since they were introduced....

Seriously the only really negative comments I've made lately have been about the Demolisher (mostly because of the asinine arguments I got supporting the large buff it got) and a few critiques of the ticket bleed rate.

Other than that my large disagreement with you guys is over the Osiris Prime.

I never attack people personally and try to argue my points and concedes truths in people's arguments, I never just blow people off.

One reason for my tone change has been that in some of the matters I've pointed out and suggested, I will get utterly blown off in the forums... but then in game I hear people complain about it and agree something needs to be done. Just trying to point out a few areas that I feel are really hurting the game right now. This was not one of them.

devs, please dont feel insulted by posts like this. we are trying to help you out with a problem we see (or think we see) in the game. If you personally did the work, we are not insulting you or your work. we merely believe that the changes were not in the best interests of our, or a majority of players, playstyles. we do appreciate your work, but understand that it is impossible to please everyone and there will always be room for slight tweaks, even on stuff that you thought was perfect.

i have to agree that there seems to be a min range. I walked up to a warhammer in a MRM cat and at <100m unloaded a full salvo on his center chest to see the torso components barely eex out of the green range. we continued to circle at close range and i would lead him as i would in .32 and would barely get any hit markers, even when there was no way i was missing. fight ended badly and i have not taken a mrm cat since.
RAC speed adjustments should only be limited by imagination, ever increasing, ever higher!!!!

I've run some tests and the minimum range is indeed 20m.

However, I got strange anomalies of the MRMs hitting at 40-100m and simply doing no damage, they explode on the target, but you don't really get the hit sound and get no damage... its difficult to reproduce though as it seems to happen at random. Note this was firing at a stationary target in a closed server.

I think the minimum range is good, as in 0.3.2 I could just run towards an enemy, step right in his face and basically instagib him with 80 rockets right to the cockpit or torso. I think it shouldn't be a hard falloff though, in the minimum range it should still do some minor damage; they don't explode, but you still have rockets mashing into you at a couple hundred KPH.

I don't mind the range tick.....although when the teams get gridlocked on that long pass on that cave map...I forget the name....where on side comes out of spawn, across a small bridge and camps out at the top of the hill while the other side comes out of spawn and comes down the hill just enough to see the enemy...at which time they bang you cockpit in with Gauss rounds...having the MRM Pult and MRM Uziel was one of the only ways to fight back......

The way it is now you have to take a ton of hits before you ever get in range....and to top it off you can't get all the missiles to go to the same place....

I only used MRMs in certain situations such as that where SRM can't reach and the roof prevents LRM use.  When all you have is MRMs and a small laser it sucks when a 6 flamer Hairy D traveling 160kph gets in your blind spot and cooks you well done cause you were busy aiming your few missiles that behave to their intended target

I say make the minimum range 0 again but just make the 20% tarded missiles the ones that can make contact at close range instead of all 20 or 40 it would be like 8-10 maybe.  This makes it very costly to use at short range but at least you have some defense.....

So there were some legit uses for a point blank volley.

Point blank volley with ArrowIV missiles is ridiculously awesome and is one of my favorite maneuvers in this game. Nobody ever expects it, so they see me in a slowish Catapult C and they decide to charge to get "to close to use my arrows"...now their torso (usually it's a bigger mech then my cata) is nudged in front of me, so I just dip down and fire.

Yeah, I take some damage too, and maybe the arrowIV has lessened damage at point blank - idk, but it's worth it.


Anyways, about MRMs, they're pretty sweet but I also didn't notice the new max range change. As KingLeer said though, 650m is more reasonable for what is supposed to be medium range. I was wandering if there'd be an SMRM, basically the MRM version of SSRM. I assume not, because I assume that it is not canon (didn't find it on sarna). There was an SMRM in mechwarrior4 though, it was added into the game with the Clan 'Mech Pak.
And yeah, Cata B is pretty damn good, and luckily still available somewhat early even after the new pricing system.

You know, I haven't noticed that the MRM's range was nerfed. But then again its hard as balls to hit anything out beyond 650. If anything the range reduction was a buff. People won't be inclined to waste ammo on things they will have a hard time hitting.

20 meter minimum range was a nice touch. It was too easy to gib BA next to you with them.
