I think part of the reason people have a disconnect between outside and inside views is that Mechs are big. From the outside it looks like they're hardly moving, but a tiny bit of relative motion for such a large object makes the bob quite considerable for the pilot.

The Shadowcat specifically doesn't bob up and down much, but it twists side to side a little.

Take the Uziel out for a spin if you want to see the torso bob.  :P

Absolutely. The Uziel is the most pilot-jarring mech there is. Maybe it should be nicknamed "Bob"?  :D

Also keep in mind that movement penalties are a part of the balance in CBT, which this mod is using as inspiration. I actually love the fact that firing on the move is difficult. Walking into range and LOS of a mech that is stationary is going to hurt because they are going to be able to drop precise munitions into you. But it's a risk because you also have an easier time returning fire on them. If both of you are moving then it is more likely that shots are going to spread across the mech's surface.

It's all give and take. The more you move the harder you are to hit, but the harder it is for you to hit as well. I love it.

Very true, except that difficulty doesn't always scale the same. The Uziel (forever the scapegoat...) actually bobs more when walking than running.

There's no reason for arm mounted weapons to be affected by mech movement.  Today's tanks can hit a hill at 60+MPH bouncing off the other side and the barrel on the "torso" of the tank stays on target.

We should have a targeting computer that does just this......I mean after a couple thousand years I'm figuring technology probably progressed some right?  So arm weapons that are immune to motion up/down and some left/right action relative to torso

Talonguy brings up a good point in this discussion. If 'mechs truly acted like they do in MWLL (which is fairly close to what I think they would), then arms be entirely unnecessary...
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

perhaps it was the broken engrish or the contradictions?

Well, if the mech doesn't shake then what use are external pivots aka arms? The torso seems to function 100% for all aiming purposes rendering arms a pointless device.

Arms are used for carrying extra weapons and aiming them at more extreme angles than the torso can twist (sometimes directly behind your mech) or for thrashing an enemy mech's cockpit in. Sadly, none of this can be done in MWLL, so they're just spaces for extra weapons.

Spooky, you need to take a Novacat out for a spin, smooth as a whistle.  I still hate 'em, but they have very little 'bob', I like how the chicken walkers bounce a bit.  The Bob on the Uzi is only a big problem, because of its tight field of view.  You can get used to it, but it doesn't really matter when you got twist and turn like crazy just to see whats out there.

I suck!! But WE are AWESOME.  We started a unit.  What's that?!  YOU WANNA TOUCH MY UNIT?!! :P ^^12thVR Recruitment Page(clickthepic) ;)

Mechs really need to lose the jerking 'halt' when you idle down to zero. When you hit the brakes, it makes sense for your view to jump all over because that's your mech's momentum that hasn't been eaten by the legs.

However, when you IDLE down to zero, there shouldn't be ANY jerking view because... you're idling down. All your forward momentum is being bled out of the legs, *NOT THE COCKPIT*. This is without a doubt the most fapping annoying part of mech movement. It's totally unrealistic (try it in your car - brakes vs. coasting... hmm) and it makes subtle movements impossible. "Okay I'll creep over this hill, keep my aim, let's slide down to stop... and fiOHGOD great, the shot went high."
