I played both Mass Effects, and I liked them.
I did not expect a pure RPG like so many others, but more of a Shooter with massive RPG elements. Something like the first Deus Ex was.
Also, I really love the small things that change in ME2 depending on what you did in ME1. Small details like that are what makes a game special IMHO, and such things make sure that a game is remembered.
I guess that is why I look forward to ME3 so much, I can't wait to find out what my actions in ME1 and 2 bring with them.
For example, I have freed the Rachni Queen in ME1, and I was nice to the Rachni messenger in ME2, so what will it bring in ME3?
Will there be a massive Rachni fleet joining the battle at one point, and saving the day (and most likely the lives of crew members), or will the queen break our promise and attack other sentinent races like her ancestors did?
I left her locked in the lab with my second character, so what will happen there?
Things like that are what makes games great.
Dragon Age was a huge disappointment.
I was expecting game playing in the same league as Baldurs Gate, but DA never got anywhere near it.
I have finished it anyways, but I was never as hooked as I was with Baldurs Gate, or even Neverwinter Nights.
How so many gaming magazines could have chosen it as game of the year or RPG of the year is beyond me, it was all hyped but did not even closely live up to it.
