What interesting is that the i5 is a recommended buy and not the i7 due to over clock + value issues.

I'm more interested in the low power solutions like the Atom with Ion graphics or AMDs new cpu/gpu intregreated chips for a new low power, low noise media pc that has hdmi out and can play full 1080p

I meant in comparison to gimmicks, such as the motion controller that aiden posted previously.

The 2600s models were the first ones that made the i7 interesting in my eyes . .
Also, LGA2011 (Socket R) and X68 chipsets have been sighted in asia allready . .

I'll wait a little while till we see some serious benchmarking going on, though that being said it looks like they've got their usual limited/no overclocking route.

Not saying i am AMD loyal, but i like the idea of being able to control something i own.

The new AMD CPU's have a similar over/underclocking mechanism in them O.o

So basically, unless you want a cheap but inferior CPU, there won't be any reason to buy AMD?
Another monopoly on the PC market, yay >_>

Well i'm not seeing the point for main stream PC users for these flagship CPU's any more.  My wolfdale core 2 duo @3.0ghz can get the job done for most anything i want to do.  Sure if i was running some virtual desktops or servers it might make sense but for the forsee able future i don't see my self upgrading the CPU anytime soon.

What, I don't even....

That doesn't make any sort of sense.

Why not?
Of course it makes sense.
It makes it possible to deliver more power where needed and to save energy when it's not needed.
And it gets the TDP down to acceptable limits again too.

i'm sorry, but the people inventing this stuff have to invent it so it can be sold as good as possible.
and people demand this kind of technology.
