A little Aesthetic love...
« on: January 20, 2011, 12:06:26 PM »
...for the Whammy. So, is anyone else saddened by the whammy's truncated arms? I mean, the mauler has full length arms, the hephy has giant things the lasers come out of. Why are the Whammy's arms so short?
Please, for the sake of us fans of the whammy, and for the sake of the CHILDREN... Uhh... nyx that last bit, too politician-like.

However, please see if something could be done.

Lul. Nah, whammy aint changing. I don't see any reason why they would change it, looks like a warhammer to me.

Just think of all the QQ akin to the shovel arm of the Thor if they did change it. :P

I'd like them be set a tad bit wider and be a bit longer.

I doubt that it's necessary. Sure, current Warhammer design deviates slightly from canon depictions but I actually like the way it is now.

Of all the things a dev could be spending valuable time doing, this has got to be the last.

I like the short design as well as the classic longer design.  The short design makes the Warhammer look like a wound up ball of hurt, while the long design makes it look like a "reach out and touch them" design.

It's a safe bet that the person who modeled it knows what a Warhammer looks like according to TROs.  It's not like they finished the model, noticed the arms were too short, and said "Oops!  Eh, fapp it...nobody will notice."

I'm guessing it is the way it is for a reason.  Hell, it could even be because of Harmony Gold - MWLL may be not-for-profit, but those guys will sue you for looking at them funny.  You guys remember what happened last time a proper-looking Warhammer showed up in media, don't you?   :-X

This is most likely the case but I would rather cut out Prime and let players build their own Whammer than use the stunted-growth one that we have now.   I noticed a Whammer with a PPC on the shoulder rather than the iconic missile pods and I feel that, if that is default, that is a solution to making it look different from the Harmony Gold IP.  I'd add a predator style PPC on the shoulder, a pair of "tit" heavy lasers where the missile launchers should be.

Not too big of a loss.  Just add it back in when we get the mech lab.   I can load prime from my profile and is HG going to sue me?

I would also prefer the re-seen over what we have now.  I'd prefer it to be taken out entirely.  It looks dumb, and that's obviously no reflection on the artist's abilities, at all.  With the correctly modeled Mauler, its even more troublesome.  The missile pods are kind of stunted too, tbh.

I clearly stated that it wasn't a reflection of the artists abilities.
