Oh great. Another sheep going ZOMG MAKE UR OWN OR STFU at the slightest hint of criticism. Yknow, people are entitled to their opinion. Nobody ever said that the current looks are ugly or anything like that. If someone prefers the real Warhammer arms, let them for Kerensky's sake. The fact that you don't care doesn't invalidate the opinions of others ಠ_ಠ

The wharhammer was born with tiny, underdeveloped arms.  Stop staring at them, it makes him feel uncomfortable.

In other news, when you make something public, expect criticism.  It goes with the territory.

As I understand it, to create an asset  (especially a 'mech) in this game takes a lot of hours.  These hours are the free time of the developers creating the assets.  I would imagine that the suggestion that the artist stop working on new assets and re-work a fully functional design because some people are of the opinion that the arms are too short is borderline offensive to the developer who created the Warhammer.  It smacks of ingratitude.  It would be a different story if the request were made of paid professionals and you were their customer.

I'm sure there are a thousand little aesthetic changes we could all agree would make any given asset in the game cooler looking to any given group of people, but it's simply not worth the time it would take, and in the end you can't please everyone.  As -AAA- stated, there may also be good reasons behind the decisions.  See the thread on the Summoner/Thor.

It's one thing to state an opinion, it's another to make a request.

OK, it may be more complicated than that (may not fit properly, or look right) but with what little experience I have with 3d modeling (made custom guitar on auto cad) it doesn't take more than a few minutes :-\

Well they certainly did it with the Nova Cat and Thantos to test the legs after crashing back in pre .40.  I'd rather have the Mauler arms as well.  I had to play Mechwarrior 2 again a few days ago just to get back that real Warhammer feeling.

And strangely it didn't feel like a Mech to me.  SO if HG wants their mech back, they can have it.  Maybe its the fact that it hasn't appeared in any of the games since (3, 4, Commander, etc.).  But if you're going to feature Warhammer in the game, do it right, and at least model what makes it iconic - even if it isn't exact.  I think Uller/Kitfox isn't supposed to be able to torso twist, for example, but its not so glaring as a fault.  Having unshielded laser assemblies jammed into the arms like a nail on the end of a pencil eraser, not acceptable, even if I didn't pay for it.

Great work on the Warhammer, btw, to whoever made it.

Perhaps they intend to change it so it doesn't look like HG; this is just where they had to stop short until they could think of a better alternative design than the butt ugly re-seen version?

I'll be the first to admit I have no idea how to design 3D moving objects for video games.  I was basing my statement off of the info given in the Summoner/Thor post.  If it is as simple as you claim, then I stand corrected (although I don't think you have to animate a guitar to the same extent as a 'mech).

Even if it only takes a small amount of time, the fact remains that this is the free time of the developer which could be spent on exponentially more useful projects.

Assuming you get what you want and the Warhammer's arms are extended, what happens the next time someone posts that they want a minor aesthetic change to a 'mech and gets a few people to agree with them?

Its not the same. The torso and legs  are entirely separate models and entities. That means its 'easy' to swap legs with other legs, as its simply a script change, but to change arms the torso of the warhammer would need to be remodelled.

New idea- would I be able to use an external hard drive to add RAM and/or improve gigahertz?
