Its been fun
« on: January 23, 2011, 08:48:54 AM »
Its been a blast playing with yall, but since this move to crysis wars this game is unplayable for me. I should be able to play this game no problem. I've posted in the technical forum and we couldn't figure it out. So farewell its been fun, but I can't go on with this game dropping to 10fps anymore even on the lowest details.

have you tried copying your autoexec from vanilla crysis to wars?

That did it for me. I was having the same issues, and i was entirely confused as to why i had such a performance hit between the two. So I copied it over and it worked like a charm.

Its likely an issue with streaming on your card or dx9/dx10. Which are you running, dx9 or dx10?

A GTX260 should be plenty. You guys should try switch between dx9/10 and using CCC and see if it makes a difference. I run 2 8800GTS in SLi and do alright most of the time.

Try experimenting with using DX10 or forcing DX9 and try both 32Bit and 64Bit if that is an option with your OS. I have heard guys say that have gotten better performance going both ways. I run the Alpha in 32Bit DX9 and the Beta in 64Bit DX10 with Windows7 Pro 64Bit. For me the Beta runs smoother but both are playable. I was running one GTX275 but have now added a second and have them paired in SLI.

WARs has been a great improvement for me on both the performance and stability front.

I have a GTX260 as well. Running with DX9 and 64bit I'm struggling to get 15fps, often dropping to 10 during action and sometimes to 5 on a full Kagoshima server. I installed CCC and set it to lowest, but it didn't seem to help at all.

I haven't used DX10 since it gave me poorer performance in 0.1, so I might try that again and see if it changed.

My FPS has steadily been dropping about 5 FPS per major update. On most maps (excluding Mirage and Deathvalley) I'm lucking to get 15fps now, on ultra-low CCC settings at 1200xsomethingorother resolution, windowed.

@Toth
I've ran both DX10 and DX9. DX9 runs a whole lot better and currently running DX9.

@Nitro
Been running on low details does not make a difference.

I mean thanks for the suggestions ya'll, but I have tried everything that everyone has mentioned. I have come to the conlcusion it is just the graphics engine itself and there is nothing I can do about it. I run every other game I play fine with details, res, with aniso and aa maxed out. I figure an Intel  Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 3.7ghz, 8gb of RAM, BFG 2x Geforce 275GTX OC SLI would be enough, but apparently not lol.

Sometimes it's just too much, and you need to underclock. It's happened to me before.
When will full game/demo/beta be released?
         We're planning a beta release in the next *very* few weeks. At this time, we can't be more specific. Please stop asking.

No, I will not stop asking.

No problems on this: 3.2 GHz quad, 8 GB DDR2, GT220 vid card, DX10 on OS 7 64-bit

My system seems a bit "slower" than yours, particularly with respect to the vid card. I run the game on medium.

Why does DX 10 mode have problems?  I had catastrophic lockups (had to cold boot) with DX 10, which were semi-often, and with DX 9 the crashes are manageable and fewer.

This.

I had my own custom autoexec.cfg which I tweaked myself based on the Medium CCC settings in 0.3 based on regular Crysis.
It worked well in 0.3 except on Frostbite.

But now in Wars, no good.  I'm all on LOW now.

I seem to be reading a lot of people with a GTX260 and have struggling framerates which baffles me. I have a GTS250(1Gb) and I get constant 20-30fps and above on CCC high(no. 4) setting. My Mobo is a P55 Fuzion running i5 760 overclocked to 3.2Ghz, does that make the difference?

Yeah I agree. It makes no sense to me that the GTX260 would be struggling at 10FPS. I have a Q6600@3.0 and a 9800GTX+ and it runs the Mod on Wars Medium settings at an average of 28FPS. I almost never see it drop below 20FPS on that machine. My main machine stays above 30FPS with the GTX275s in SLI. It is baffling that there is that much difference in framerates for some people. I think I would try switching up some drivers and playing around with it more. Or like the OP said you can just quit.
