So, your favorite chassis didn't get a D & E variant.
« on: January 26, 2011, 09:40:01 AM »
Uziel, Hollander, Catapult, Owens, Thanatos, and Osiris did not get additional variants, not that I am bitching, it makes sense that the IS 'Mechs have fewer variants.

The worst though, is the Uziel.  It has a lot of potential.  A CBT based Prime would be great, or Nitro's LBX10/PPC variant, though the LBX is quite heavy, and may not fit the devs build rules.  Would be funny if the LBX got mounted where the missile rack goes. :P

What do you guys think would make good variants for these chassis.  Keep it reasonable, to the best of your  knowledge.

My dream Uzi would be 2xAC5, SSRM6, and 2xSBL, or MBL if they would fit.   :)

Look on the bright side.  Non-omni IS 'Mechs may get fewer variations on the average than clan, however by the same token the IS has a larger variety of base designs to pick from.

The CBT Prime Uziel is an abomination.  The "Prototype stage" variant with the twin PPCs that it's known for is great, but seriously - an Ultra/2 as it's main firepower?  Really?

That said.. why on Earth is that your dream variant?  That's more or less close to the Light Gauss one except the twin LG are far, far more powerful than 2 AC/5s.  For crying out loud, Partisans barely dent mech armor and they have -4- AC/5s, and are a starting-priced variant.  Do you want that variant so you can buy one at the start of the game, since it'd have almost no battle value?

I guess all I'm saying is I think you are greatly overestimating the importance of light-ACs.  Even in CBT.
I will personally hunt you down and poptart your leg while your back is turned and you're in your base.

@Victor, easy killer, no need to get cross.  AC5s do fine against lights and mediums, and the Uzi's arms don't really have the space for anything bigger.  You prob want AC20s or something gawdawful like that.  It is also a LBX2, not a UAC, which would most likely get bumped up to a 5, for MWLL.  I happen to like 'Mechs with multiple weapon types. :)  It also has a LPL and an ERMBL, I think that is it's main fire power.  add in the 2 ERSBLs and that is some punch.

srry TOM, I meant to include it.  :)

have fun out there kids...

One Version with X-Pulse-Lasers please.
And one with AC/UAC2's please.

Our possible variants are currently limited on the Uziel due to not having a custom weapon pod replacement for the central missile rack component.  Once we have that built it will allow us to build non-missile based configs.

Perhaps we could embrace the Missile Boat uziel:

Uziel D:
2xDual SSRM4s (one on each arm)
SSRM6 (Center)
2 Small Pulse lasers
ECM

Uziel E:
 2xMRM20s (one on each arm)
Narc: (Center where the SRM rack is).
2 Free tons

We would have a middle weight SRM and MRM boat to complete with the MRM40 catapult and SRM vulture.

Uziel D:
x2 Large Pulse laser | arms
SSRM-6 | missile pod
5DHS, BAP
No JJs and on the more expensive end, but really utilizes the Uziels speed to eat smaller targets quickly.
We don't really have any higher end uzi's. This one would rock socks.

Uziel E:
LBX10
ERPPC
SRM-4
1 DHS, JJs
Nice one-two punch up close, needs moar brawling uzis. (I think me and nitro designed this independently... it is only logical after-all.)

Catapult D:
x2 Dual|SSRM6
x4 Medium Pulse Laser
4 HS, GECM, JJs
Catapult needs a good brawler, the MRM is more support than anything.

Catapult E:
x2 LRM-20
x4 ER Medium Blast Laser
3 HS, BHP, JJs, 2 free tons.
Old faithful returns to kick some ass at 500-1000m. More of a line holder with good laser punch to back it up, can be fielded far longer than the ELRM variant and can defend itself better than the Arrow.

Hollander D
LBX-20
x4 XSPL
JJs, 1 free ton, 2 HS, GECM
OHHH YEAHHHH

Hollander E
Light Gauss
x4 Mguns
JJs, 3 free tons, Eoptics, BHP
Cheap cheap cheap, perhaps even starting level that can stay in the field forever and provide nice AA support.

Really don't care if the Osiris gets E or D... I just want my proper Prime.
Though I will say the Pulse laser variant needs to be changed to this:

Osiris B
x2 MPL
x2 SPL
2 HS, JJ, MASC
Will allow it to actually use its weapons overtime rather than 2 alphas and done.

Owens E:
x2 Dual|Srm4
x2 SXPL
MASC, BHP,C3

Owens D:
x2 MRM10
x2 ERMBL
Would need MRMs to be fixed... I dunno, the owens is too boatty for my tastes.

@Alfalphacat
I gave up on the AC/5 on the Uziel... just won't be useful unless we have some sort of burst fire model.

@Victor, easy killer, no need to get cross.

Didn't mean to come across that way, just kind of got confused.  Kind of like if a soldier said "Hey, please take my rifle away and give me a BB gun, that'd be swell.  But you know what's really rock?  A squirt gun.  Definitely, I'd prefer a squirt gun."  Was just wondering why on Earth anyone would want the Uziel CBT prime, given it's probably one of the worst 50 tonners in all of CBT.

The Uziel Prime is the UZL-2S.

And now we shall never speak of  the UZL-3S again. Do you understand me? NEVER AGAIN.

Me too, and I could make 2xAC/5 one work too, though ERMBLs would be great on it.  I rethought it though, cause I think it can fit an LRM10 in the missile rack.(?)  So, how 'bout this:  2xUAC5, 2xERMBL, LRM10, 2tons free, BAP, and drop the JJ's.  I guess I'm weird, but I kinda liked the laser Uzi back in 0.3.

I want that Owens E, Invictus, that is gorgeous.  It would replace the B, for me anyways.  Those Holly's are nice too.  The E would be great at taking Hawkmoths down early game. :D

BTW, what about some ThunderBolts mounted on mechs or tracked vehicles (there were TB demolisher in CBT) and Arrows on aeros?

Hollander with TB20 and for example 10t of ammo will be pretty cool.
