No Fly Zone Vehicle
« on: January 26, 2011, 11:51:47 PM »
It seems to me that the best arguement for vehicles like the 4 firebomb Shiva is the cost of the plane. So, what I would suggest is that an AA tank of a similar high cost be put into game that has the capability to actually pose as great a threat to air units as they pose to ground units.

I want a 130,000 cbill AA vehicle that would make it literally suicidal for any pilot to try and bomb any vehicle or mech protected within this AA vehicle's threat envelope. It should be utterly brimming with UACs, ERLBLs, ATMs, and a ninja that lands on the shivas cockpit and teabags the pilot.  ;D

Wow could there be any more rage at Fbombs?

Anyways. Some sort of extremely expensive Surface to Air missile launcher has been proposed.
Sort of like an arrow for the skies. Was a while back and have no idea if CBT supports it or the devs will either consider such a thing.

A huit prime will rape a Shiva bombing him so hard if he sees him coming.....

The Huit Prime does well enough against Shivas in my opinion.  Shivas are much larger and slower than any other ASF in the game right now, and I've never had any trouble killing them using Huit Prime, and I've been killed plenty of times by the tank while using a shiva myself.

I was about to say, the Huit seems very capable of making fighters wary of coming into an area.  The 4x RAC2 Partisan does a good job as well, though it has thinner skin.

Wow could there be any more rage at Fbombs?

Months ago I think I passed "rage" as the descriptor for how I felt about firebombs repeatedly, and with little or no warning or ability to avoid, blowing up my assault mech I spent the last few minutes slowly walking into battle. We've gone straight to...well I don't know actually. I don't think I can think of a word that beats rage without using multiple words to describe the grief to my enjoyment of the game it instill upon me.

hang on, getting a thesaurus...

acrimony, animosity, annoyance, choler, dander, exasperation, fury, gall, ill temper, impatience, irascibility, ire, irritation, miff, resentment, vexed, umbrage, chafe, bristle, acerbity, animosity, vehemence, wingding, upset, furor, apoplexy, asperity, agitated, paroxysm, wrathful, angry, mad.

Well now, I don't even know what cholor, apoplexy, paroxysm nor wingding means...

...but I think for sure I'm feeling wingding.  ;D

Evasion is my tactic with smaller mechs, not assaults

huit prime works vs every variant besides the firebomber. between the stealth ability by going passive and the moderately low damage output, the shiva can hit and get out before its killed. land (assuming they dont die here, the runway is more dangerous than most AAs), repair, and repeat.

they need a huit with 4x LBX 5s 2x LBX10s, and 2 CERMBLAS. not really a problem vs mechs because of the terrible speed and close range profile of the weps, but any aero that gets within 500m is insta-gibbed. i do hope they extend the range of LBXs tho, because that would really help the aa with them. they would do so little damage to a single system past the current range that they would not be a problem.
RAC speed adjustments should only be limited by imagination, ever increasing, ever higher!!!!

I don't think it's fair to balance all Aerospace variants around the F-bomb one. The close-range Shiva's have the same armor as the LRM and F-bomb variants which is inadequate for their intended roles.

I was also under the impression they were going to nerf the F-bomb Shiva too, but they added 4 free tons to it.

A quick fix would be to take th MK2 with JJs

It does a ton of damage, has ATMs to shoot asf down, and you can jump over ther splash and even flyswat them with your face

JJs seem to have more acceleration, so they're even better for dodgeing

That's damned funny, you know that is gonna add 4 freetons of F**KBombs to Frostiken's rage... ;)

Anyone tried the Huit A, with 2xLBX10 2xArrowIV? It can critically damage or even destroy a Sulla with a single good blast during a close bombing run. I'm surprised I've only seen it once in-game yet.

A tip i got and that works great: Don't rely exclusively on the radar - continually scan the sky sector by sector using zoom (first sector, quickly zoom in, zoom out, next sector, ... etc.).
